    Guys:

Anybody have any experience with an underdash unit that can give heat air and defrost? I really like that old look. What I am running into is maybe these units won't come with the defrost feature. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks Kent ( going in a '55 GMC truck)

Most all underdash units are a/c only and the heat defrost is the original factory stuff. All that I have seen anyway.

My bad..... after I posted I realized you were asking about the old style under dash units. They will not come with defrost as they would need to be plumbed to the windshield vents to work, and would not have a heat source either. Sorry for the initial quick brain-dead reply.

Having said that, if you want a/c, heat and defrost, and don't want to see tanything sticking uot under the dash, they do make units that tuck up tight to the firewall and can be plumbed to the original vents.......

  6. I have an underdash AC/heater unit in my '34 Coupe that I got from Hot Rod Air. I've had it for 5 years and love it! The unit has an internal heater core that requires heater hoses to supply the hot water from the engine. As stated by other's, there is no provision for defrost with the underdash unit.
