I recently bought a 31' chevrolet two door sedan and have been considering building it underslung front and rear. But after visualizing where the body is going to be in contact with the leafs (normally the frame) in the rear I can foresee there being a problem in the form of a awkward gap. Normally the body would sit flush with the frame, but underslung there will have to be a gap between the leaf and the body. There is a panel for the rear that covers the rear frame rails, shackles/leafs and gas tank but I kinda wanted to run with out that to show off the off the suspension.
Any body have any suggestions?, maybe it wont look so bad. I haven't had any luck finding pics of underslung sedans... anybody have any?

i dont know how a chevy body sits on the frame, but if its like a model A the frames rails sit a bit inward from the edge of the body.

how about you it flush on the frame, ditch the back half of the floor, and make a long/tall notch in the rear whell well for the axel to go up into /travel.

then when you look in the car you can see the rear and leafs ect.

if you wanted to keep your rear compartment you could build your floor up over it with some windows or something in it and you wouldnt realy lose anymore space then you would when people put in a big step to get the car as low as your underslung would be.

    just some thoughts.

maybe instead of "windows" which could look preety hokey. you could just have a few quick release panels?

    dunno

I love and can't get enough underslung talk.Maybe move spring pearches inside the frame rail instead of on top.Not lower but just inboard. A underslung front with quarter eliptics in the rear might be a consideration.Beware the scrub line police they are watching.

I guess a pic would help you guys visualize it underslung a bit better. I'm thinking to move the shackle inboard and the hanger on the end of the frame rail and running leafs with little to no arch in them. I can just see it looking like the body is just floating over the leafs. [IMG]
