After 12+ years working for Vintage Auto Parts Inc and then Streamline after they purchased it. I was "let go" last Friday. "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" So I'll be quiet.
Sometimes.............the best things come to you looking BAD..... My brother had the same thing happen to him, 7 years ago. He was ' forced ' to start his own business Best thing that could have EVER happened...to him.. He loves it...now Maybe something GREAT is hidden in this latest development.....
Sorry to hear that Eric, you treated me great on an axle deal. I'm sure somebody can use your skills. Good luck, Phil
That sux...you have always given me great service, you shouln't have any trouble landing another job.
I know the feeling man, had the same thing happen two weeks ago. Sitting here tweaking my resume as I reply to this. No worries, you will find something better.
Sorry to hear that Eric, but with your experience and communication skills, I see a bright future ahead for you. Best, Ralph
A couple of years ago,i worked at a service shop. One of those pos kia suv's pulled in and a lady asked me to check her alternator belt. while i was checking it.i noticed part of a stick rubbing the belt near the crank pulley. I reached down to get the stick and my elbow bumped the radiator overflow hose. when this happened it broke a little platic piece at the radiator(total value of replaced piece, about $00.02). Kia wanted $300.00 to replace the entire radiator because they don't make actual parts. After paying for the radiator and even paying for the customers rental GMC ENVOY,the customer decided that i should be fired for what i did to her precious vehicle. So I was. Canned cold like a bunch of beans. Denied unemployment. it sux getting let go. The moral of the story is,never work on a foreign car. ever. it can cost you your job or maybe even your life.
Sorry to hear that Eric, hope this works out for you. Great service on purchases for me as well. Gordon
Sorry to hear the news. I really enjoyed your company last summer at all the different events we were at togheter last year. Your alot of fun to be around. I hope our paths continue to p*** often in the hot rod world. Best of luck in your new endevors. Keep in mind we here in Detroit need a decent hot rod parts house. I know a couple of people that would hop on board with you in a heart beat here in town.
I guess it must be something going around, I too was '' let go'' after 10-1/2 years with the same company. I know how you must be feeling right now, but buck up son, the best is yet to come! Hang in there, I know I will NOT give up! Neither will you!
Sorry to hear about your job loss, but look at it this way, as others have said here, use it as a step forward. FWIW, Eric went above and beyond on an order he filled for me a while back - the fentons - if he was working commission on that one, he didn't make a cent. Thanks again, buddy, and good luck in the future. Someone will be lucky to pick up an employee with a work ethic like yours!!!
Sorry to hear that. Sounds like the beginnings of corporate greed to me. I guess I will need to find somewhere else to spend all my money to get the T done.
Eric, I'm really sorry to hear that but I think I remember when Vintage was sold I told you it would lead to something better. I still think it will. We'll all be pulling for you up here. Let me know if there's anything I can do for you. You know I'd be there. Doug
Eric, sorry to hear the news,... enjoyed doing business with you in the past. I guess its time to change your HAMB name...
Damn man..thats ****s! you were the only reason i did business there.... Good luck with everything and if you end up involved in selling speed parts again, let us know. I know i'll be calling.. Tony
I'll bet it was all that free shipping you gave me. Damn Man, sorry to hear that. Same thing happened to me a while back - It turned out to be a real good thing. It still rocked my world when it happened. I am sure you'll land on your feet. Hell it is hard to find a person with a brain that is willing to work anymore. You'll be sought after.
just my .02 here but with what I'm reading here about your service I would agree look into your own business. With a few copies of these Hamb testamonial to your service I don't think that finding backing to do it will be hard contact Their suppliers with this info prove you already have the customers for their goods let them check here for references.I'll buy from a Hamber before anyone else
All the encouraging words may sound a bit hollow when it's you in the barrel, but they're absolutely true. Ex employer was just looking for an excuse to reduce staff; short-sighted, but all the vogue these days. Actually, some of the huge multi-nationals are realizing that their staff reduction plans were consistent with being out of business in five to seven years, so they're playing catch up. Take some time and think about what YOU WANT to do...follow your dream and never give up the fight. Keep us posted.
Hey Eric, I just heard about this last night at the bar and I gotta wonder, are you REALLY surprised? Everyone who has ever worked there has been treated like ****. I'm really sorry for you, man; you deserve better. But as Clint Eastwood said, "Deserve's got nothing to do with it".
Hey man, I don't know ya but bein in buisness in the past, you sound like the kind of people I always sought for. I agree with some of the others...you have some great references here already. Go for it and don't look back. 'Cept maybe to flip off the short sighted ones as you p*** them by! Good luck.
Three years ago I was let go 2 weeks before Christmas... it ****s I started my own Business I now have 2 employees and have never been happier.....PS I always say you can tell a lot about a company by the way it takes care of it's employees , Doesn't say much about Streamline Does it !
Maybe my new Streamline distribution catalog doesnt look so good after all. Good Luck Eric Let all of us know what your new venture will be. Jay
