Yeah Eric that sucks for sure, I know exactly what you are going through.

  2. Wow, for the short term, I'm sure this is a untimely irritation to say the least.

But, in the big scheme of things your probably gonna end up at a better gig with a better company or will start your own thing and have twice the "Big Rigs" to sell out of.

Sharp guys like you don't stay idle for very long. Good luck and keep us posted.

That sucks Eric. Man, I guess I'm lucky that I decided not to go work there a year ago; it looks like I dodged a bullet!

I’m with Tomslik; I shop and send everyone to Denver Specialty Center. Streamline may do a good “on line” business, but most local folks I know don’t shop there.

    You have a PM

  5. And I was just going to PM you about their offer to sell parts.
    So much for that.

Let us know where you land.

    Eric,
    Sorry to hear that.
Sucks with bills and a young family. The bad part about it you normally never have much notice before you're payless.

I have worked now 35 yrs. I just received notice last week that my shop is closing and moving south next year sometime with 7 yrs seniority here.
This will be the fourth plant I have closed now. The first two, when I had a young family, was really a shocker. But I've learned as the years pass that I am a survivor. Nothing will stop me and i will adapt to whatever comes my way.
I don't plan to retire anyway..... I have too many expensive hobbies that I will never give up on. I want to die on my feet at 80 mph.
With an attitude like this..I'm sure i am going to outlast a few jobs along the way. Good luck to you and Don't fret... It will get better.

  7. Eric, Sorry to hear that. You know you were the the best part of that whole inventory when they bought VAP outta Woodinville. Hope you come back "HOME" after this. Call me. We'll talk. And dont sell your 32 roadster whatever you do. Dale

Hope everything works out. I'm positive it will.
When I was shopping for some heads for the Beater, Eric pm'd me. I hemmed n' hawed about it. I found a good used set for $x....Eric pm'd me AGAIN and made me an offer I couldn't refuse. He always treated me with respect and even taught me athing or two about customer relations. Keep us posted as to where your new business will be. You already have quite the clientelle....

Boy I can relate to that!
I managed Speed-Pro for twelve years. Glenn - - the Hot Rod A guy on HAMB that is stuck hard on gassers - - was one of the sales guys I worked with every day.
Corporate a-hole beancounters decided that they didn't need anyone to manage that business anymore. Now it runs on autopilot with nobody at the helm. Laid me off by having me come to a fake meeting - - where I turned over the new Fel-Pro Performance catalog for printing. They took the finished catalog from my hands and sent me packing. If you see and like the new book - - think of me - - I wrote it.

After chasing empty promise jobs around for a bit I've started my own gig. One time promotional message here - - please forgive me - - Survival Motorsports is gonna physically open for business this week with any luck - its already open as www.survivalmotorsports.com. I have a pretty nice line on budget perf camshafts, along with some other odds and ends.

I hope I can get big enough quick enough to hire some quality help....seems corporate America is making lots available.

  12. that's too bad . i don't know you ( i did buy some parts from you at a GG event) , but you sound like an Ok guy , you should land on your feet

Wow, sorry to hear about that.

    Crazy...

  15. Eric,,,,,I've given this a lotta thought,,,,,and I think i'm gonna send Streamline their catalog back,,,

It will only cost me a couple of bucks but it's my way of telling them that they have lost my business in the future! HRP

  16. I've been selling crap off and on for ages now. Sometimes I do pretty good, it's hard work but the last place I worked the assistant manager spent the paycheck on pot instead of car insurance, got pulled over, and got the car impounded. In NY you pay $8 a day for every day it's uninsured or you can't register that or any other car for that many days... so guess who was bumming rides to work?

So I said screw 'em. I just expanded what I sell from models and parts to include cars once in a while. Sometimes I do damn good, other times I wonder why the heck I bought stuff. I suppose that qualifies as running my own business. I even bought and sold a lot last year, got it at a tax auction for cheap. I messed up there, could have bought a house for cheap and didn't know no one bid on it, but now I know to look next time.

The point is when life hands you a lemon, you gotta make lemonade... it's discouraging now, but you bust your hump a little and things will work out for the better. I'm pretty damn lazy and I do okay, so anything is possible.

Hi Eric, I'm new on here and was "downsized" on September 29th. I'm still out of work but know the right job will come along at the right time. They say that when one door closes another one opens. We know the Opener. You're in our prayers. Rod

  19. Evening Eric,
Sorry to hear of the action by Streamline. I dealt with you because of the knowledge you posess, honesty and integrity. I never had to put up with any Bull Shit about "lost orders", "shipping delays", "out of stock, will be in tomorrow", its on the way, shipped yesterday, etc, etc, etc!!
I know they will not go bankrupt without you, however, they will lose a lot of sales and in the business, they are all important as its always been very competative.
I for one, appreciate your prompt service and attention to details. thanx for all the deals you steered my way, they have all went to good use.
Keep us posted and I'm sure most of us will do business with you again!!
Good luck on your new adventures!!
    Were all in this together!!
    Dave

Sorry for your loss. Its shitty to trust a company and get the shaft. I was injured in the desert 3 years ago and was forced out of the military ,loosing my Cival service position too. Now I got no income. Put you faith in something for so long and get dropped. I feel for you. But what comes around goes around. It will work out in the end. At least that what I amd wishing for.

    Good Luck
    Mike

I think it would be great if everyone on the HAMB would call Streamline and ask for Eric. When they say he's not there anymore you say, " I only want to buy from Eric", then hang up. I plan to call three times every day for a month at least.

That sucks, A year from now, you'll wonder why you stuck around there so long. Good Luck!

So you going to announce a name change on the Hamb?

  25. I don't think you get it. Eric was Streamline (Vintage Auto Parts) to us! When businesses don't get this simple fact they lose customers. Employees make a company or the company means nothing. Too bad they didn't understand basic business 101.

Hi Eric :) ...The way I see it , it`s their loss !!
It would surprise me much if a stand-up guy like you shouldn`t be back in "business" before this thread hits page 4 ... !!!!!!!

Isn't that the idea? Who'd you expect to show up at your open house-right coasters? And what were you planning to do with the beer and food if you weren't going to share it? Eric, I haven't had the pleasure of dealing with you,but I hope you land on your feet soon. Good luck.
