I felt the same way I wanted something different then a Sbc so I used a 403sbo it looks awesome and lots of torque
i cant believe there 5 pages on this shit . put a horse in front and pull it . you can put what every you think is cool in there . sorry sick and have no sense of humor today
I've got my eye on a local 394 Olds. Hopefully I can make that happen. I can't believe you read all 6 pages on something that you think is shit. That just ain't smart. Go back to bed.
Complete 1991-1995 Jeep Cherokee drive train. 4.0L motor auto trans axle right width and you can pick them up for 500.00. You can keep EFI or go Offey duel Carb intake for traditional look. Modern motor good power lots of aftermarket parts.
hambers are gonna kill me, how bout a vortec 4200 I6? 4-71 blown pontiac slant 4? that would be weird..
cadillac v16!!!! hahahahahahaha!!!! not hamb friendly, but a twin turbo supra motor would be nuts!! 1,100hp with a stock bottom end!!! that'd be kinda fun....
302 GMC it's an easy swap can look almost stock. Hardest part is to find one. Old millitary duce and halfs are a good place to look. Helped put one in a 54 bel air in the 60s it was quicker than 57 283 powerpacks.
Big block Cadillac 500 cu. in. need isay more, weighs 25 pounds more than a SBC and three times the torque with a t-400 can't beat it. Rags
With a Camaro sub on it, most any GM V8 from the late 60s or 1970s would drop in pretty easy. We were joking the other day I should have put the Chevy/GMC 6.2 diesel out of a truck I sold, into mine. It would fit, they take a Chevy case transmission and the same mounts as a 350. Would be no worse than the GMC V6, they both run out of RPM around 3600. Barring that, I'd track down an Olds, Buick or Pontiac 455 or a big Caddy 472/500 - these things are light enough you'd never get all the power out of one to stick to the pavement.
LOL.... This thread is pretty old. I am going with the 327. Done deal. Thanks for all the ideas/input.
I may get hate mail, but a "different" straight 6 would be a Chevy "Atlas" LL8. It puts out 290HP in factory trim. They are easily found, and cheap. a 4L65E trans bolts right up. If that puts bumps into the "traditional" minds, then how about a V8 60 Ford??
I'm gonna just leave this here for you to stew on. Maverick with 2Jz If you choose to take this path, I will see you over on Dogfight
Unique and different isn't always good - imagine it with this in it; A series Citroen engine. 602cc & 29BHP - feel the power.
im puting a small block chevy in mine , but ive seen the old nailhead motor with 2 four barrels on it ...lokked sweet........loving my 54 chevy 2dr sedan.....
hey just thought... i picked up this xjs jag...about 1986.... for the suspension... the 6 cylinder in it runs kinda ok... what about old jag 6,or 12 cyl in the old chevy>>>they look like good fitment, refined ,yet exotic , plenty of torque, horsepower -adequate,excellent mileage-lots of gm parts go with it....lets see pictures!!!!!...........k
