The bankruptcy court that is handling the Unique Performance case in TX is offering 44 of the vintage Mustang shells, five vintage GTO shells, 19 Camaro Shells, a Charger shell, five Cuda shells, a Challenger shell, and a large selection of shop equipment and automotive parts at auction. These are the guys that were building cars for Shelby and Foose before they were busted and charged with altering VIN numbers, among other things. Click here to check out the inventory.
Liberal use of vintage, Wikipedia says "A vintage car is commonly defined as a car built between the start of 1919 and the end of 1930."
Now is this money from the auction going towards paying off their bankruptcy, or is it benefitting the jackasses that were caught? How badly were they changing the VIN numbers, like were they making regular cars into ultra rare options package vehicles?
damn... i wish i had money... i would do anything for a 1969 mustang shell.. i forced my dad to sell his when i was born... i still feel bad for it...
The $ goes to vendors/individuals owed by Unique, not Uniques former owners. the reason the shells dont look like $100k cars is because Unique had not yet put 13 pounds of their magic dust (aka, bondo) on them yet! And the finished cars (what few there were) were $200,000.00 cars. The $100k was a deposit to 'get in line' to get a car built! PT Barnum: "There's a sucker born every minute."
they were 'washing' salvage titles...or no titles at all. you could probably get away with that on a $5000 car, but not high profile $200,000 'Shelbys'. boyd got his ass in hot water for similar shenanigans...
The restorers used to always get their knickers in a knot over people listing non-Vintage cars in the Vintage column of our local classifieds. What a waste of money that was! LOL I think they gave up in the end and the Vintage listing is the first one I look under. So... are YOU a restorer???
