What I have is a 32 ford ch***ie w/ a 4" drop i beem and split bones. Like to fit a unisteer in the mix. If I had hairpins it seems to be easy to set up. The bones are in the way, i will have to go over or under the radius rods. Is any one running this set up? How much does the scrub line and bump steer factor in? In other posts claim there is no issue. pics and any thoughts would be great.
Thanks. I am looking for someone that is using the Unisteer set up with bones not hairpins. I thought about flipping the rods or using dropped arms. like to get my head around it before i spend money .
I have a Uni-Steer with a 4 bar ... and I think I like the Vega steering as well or maybe even BETTER. My 32 3W has Uni-Steer and my 32 roadster has the Vega. My Vega box had only 2 thousand miles on the Vega when it was wrecked. I now have 52 thousand miles on the roadster so the box has 54 thousand miles on it. The 32 3W has almost 4 thousand miles. BOTH drive pretty nice but the 3W will not turn as tight as the roadster. Others with the Uni-Steer have the same issue. It is not just my car. I have messed with it a fair amount and gained some turning but it still takes more room to turn around. Both the cars have the same axle and suspension setups. Just a tip ... and not a bad mouth on the Uni-Steer ... but my next 32 ( if ever ) will have a Vega box. .
I have a friend with one and his car can not make a U turn in a normal intersection. You have to back it up and try again. It takes 3 trys to get in in my shop when we want to do anything on it. My vega car turns directly in. the bump steer would probably not be a factor but it would be worse as the drag link is only half as long. X2 on UGLY My friend wants very badly to change it out but the mount is too far forward to retro fit a Vega without pulling the engine.
