Ok I got the car unloaded this afternoon snapped a few pics, Im itching to drive it really bad. Here are some pics I snapped and some pics of the carnage of the flexplate off my truck that kept me in Mt. Vernon. Enjoy!!!
Reminds of a time a guy came in to buy a flywheel. He asked why the new one didn't have a weight on it like the old one. I said sir i'm sorry to tell you, that's not a weight that's the end of your crankshaft.
I think so, but I keep kicking around the idea of buying a 32 ch***is, I think for now though it will stay as a full fender, its growing on me.
Sorry to hear about you trouble in Mt.Vernon! But, it looks to me like it may have been worth it!! Nice looking score.
Im in newport ky, now I keep saying cincinnati. Im from ohio. Newport Ky. might as well be another part of Cincinnati though.
25 years ago I had the flexplate in my '72 GMC crack while we were 400 miles from home. Caused a heck of a vibration from 50 mph to 65 - no problem, drive 70! closer we get to home the larger the "vibration speed bracket" was. Get home and pull the trans and the flex plate is in 2 pieces. Also noticed the lack of bottom bolts on trans to engine. Yes I was the idiot who last worked on the trans. 25 years later the smaller piece of the flexplate is still nailed to the wall above my work bench to remind me to CHECK ALL BOLTS after work. Glad you made it home from your adventure. .
I found out the guy I bought it from put an engine and only put 2 bolts back in to hold the engine and trans together. I never checked it as it never vibrated or made unusual sounds to make me suspect there was a problem.
I'm glad to see it made it home without damage. I am happy with the trade. You know, that guy is right, it is a good looking car. I hope you have fun with it. Leave the fenders on it, good rust free Arizona metal. I wish I would have stayed with the project long enough to hear that flathead run.
