Although mine isn’t a show rod and more of a race car it is a roadster built from different models of cars. The only new metal on it is the hood and the floor pan other than that it’s all old sheet metal. 8410F216-2B25-4B9B-B0F8-43C2B8DC7E02.jpeg 4DED0F06-993F-4FD2-9D77-796795100632.jpeg

    Hello,

Sam Parriott had a beautiful Kurtis Kraft Roadster for the Sports Car Cl*** at the local, So Cal dragstrips. The roadster was very fast and won most races. We saw it in the Modified Sports Car Cl*** at Lion’s Dragstrip. It was a show car that was extremely fast and looked good doing it.

Everyone had their own versions of this popular Kurtis Roadster.

There are/were stories about the Cad Powered, Kurtis Kraft Roadster in general. (good or bad) But, there was no doubt that this car, called the City of Industry Special was a front runner at the drags.

  13. Here is something that just crossed my mind and not to start an argument. Just something from the Demented mind of the ******.

Roadsters have no side gl***. That being the case a bubble top car kind of does, perhaps not in the purest sense. Can a bubble top car really be a roadster? :eek:o_Oo_O:confused::confused::confused::p:D:D:D:D:D

Can anybody see ******? He’s lost in the tall semantic weeds. Maybe Mark @Moriarity can find him.

Is it still a motorcycle if it has a windshield and faring? (Now there’s a fastball down the middle for ******).

And no, I don’t want to start a bike discussion, although I would like to hear ******’s answer ;)

  15. LOL there is a pic floating around the web of a harley powered 4 wheel thing-a-mob and I still cannot justify calling it a bike, its kind of like a 3 wheeled Morgan. My dad always said that there were just a motorcycle with doors. :D :D

I did have fun thinking about my question though.:p:D:D:D

    Hello,

The last time my wife and I were in Santa Barbara in 2019 we just finished a late brunch down in the harbor restaurant called the “Breakwater Restaurant.” It is one of the best restaurants with a great atmosphere on the coastline.

It is in the harbor and is a short walk to the actual breakwater that juts out to create an unusual surf spot seen by all who visit. “Sandspit” was created by those who dropped the giant breakwater rocks, a long time ago and the yearly movement of sand.

It is fast and if you make a mistake, a certain event, it will probably end up on a joke movie section and seen by all those on the Stearns Wharf Pier just a short water distance away.

While we were finishing our late brunch and walk along the long sidewalk leading away from the harbor, we saw the big yellow Hot Rod Limo parked along the shoreline road. It was right in front of the old Fess Parker Resort and Hilton Resort. The location was on the same street as the TROG Santa Barbara Drag Race location in 2019.

It is and was the most unusual roadster that we ever saw. A lot of tourists just love being in the sunny day, salt air drive around the harbor and sights of Santa Barbara. Afterall, it is a different way to see the sights, the coastline, the cool coastal homes, and downtown shopping areas. It is a regular along the shoreline (E. Cabrillo Blvd) and in town.

But, my wife told me that in no way was she ever getting into that monster of a roadster and cruise around Santa Barbara. So, we both laughed and continued our shoreline walk. We have seen everything we want to see since coming here to this most unusual coastal city from 1960 to 2019.

The early 1960's teenage surf road trips, the photo road trips from our time together as a couple, the visits to my brother's family, the later 4 years of our son's college years, finally, the regular road trips and stop overs during our retirement road trips up the coast. YRMV

The Ohno, Lew, Gonzalez Modified Roadster at Lions Dragstrip staging...

    Hello,

Having seen many early roadsters with the simple body/frame modifications be lumped into the many named roadster cl***es, it was supposed to be our next build in a line of builds we had planned together.

My brother had this idea that he wanted to drive a dragster, but he wanted to be sure he could handle all of that power from a highly modified motor set back in a simple ch***is/body. The modified roadster cl*** was perfect for that particular application. Open air all around, a powerful motor and the dragster ch***is modified to fit the roadster body.

Well, we saw plenty of these modifications in the various roadsters. But, one stood out. The open roadster body attached to a modified dragster ch***is was going to be the closest thing to the full bare ch***is and motor combo for a gas/fuel dragster compe***ion. Most of these modified roadsters looked as if they simple plopped a roadster body right on a ch***is frame/motor combo and went racing.

“Ohno, Lew, and Gonzales was a strong-running team, I remember them well. One of those races you never forget: Ohno, Lew, and Gonzales racing the Ratican, Jackson, and Sterns Fiat Altered at Lions...great race."

With the current restoration of the Ohno,Lew, Gonzalez dragster, it looks as if one could drop a simple open roadster body on top and call it a modified roadster.

I've always been partial to Ak Millers "El Caballo". Built by Ak for function, not for purdy...... Ak Miller Picture 005.JPG vintage b.jpg

23 Fiat, how many of these do you think were imported ? It was in Hot Rod, Nov 55. I just recently finished my part of the restoration ( new ch***is ) and related parts. Puritan 2.jpg Puritan 1.jpg img20190102_17024381.jpg IMG_2783.JPG
