BuT iT hAs FoUr DoOrS :p. I like it! People around here have selective memories.

There were clear discussions last week that AMBR contenders are exempt to the trad rules.

What's wrong with mixing traditional and modern? If you don't break new ground, you're stuck in the past.

Critiquing the fact that she's not smiling in the photos... You guys should give it a rest. She has artistic license over her car as well as how she appears in photos. It's a style choice for the photo. She has plenty online smiling with her four awards for the car from the AMBR competition.

That car used to reside in Edmonton. It's a sweet car and looks even better in person.

I'm pretty sure the column raises and lowers. I saw another photo from the shoot with the owner, the wheel was higher. It also is a different design with a short column and the shaft goes down through the floor.

The shaft looks fixed. I'd be nervous about sudden stops.

Ok, the steering wheel/seat controversial affair. Who was there when this pic was taken? What are the odds the seat was up out of its riser to get cleaning rags or something that fell in? Why are there other shots that show it in a more normal position? I hate to destroy a good controversy but sometimes...o_O

Personally, I think there really isn't a way to perfectly identify which is "most beautiful" by having a handful of judges decide. If that was the true way, when all the judges went into a room and took a vote..........it would be unanamous on the first vote, as they all saw the same one as rising above all others. But instead, they go in with differences of opinion........just like the general public. Then they try to convince each other which is "the one". Like all of these kinds of situations, there is personal pressure on these individuals no matter how fair and open minded they try to be.
I think the best way is to just let the people attending the show have a tear-off that they can drop in a box as they leave the show and write the number down for the car they think is most beautiful. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...........not the appointed judges.

  13. In the case of a contest with awards, the beholders are the judges, by definition.

  14. The car was fit to the driver. For some reason that escapes some of us arm chair show judges :) Only one person has to be comfortable when driving it

But the shop can easily be contacted to ask the builder. I wonder why the folks worried about it haven’t asked :)

car looks easier to drive than a first gen vette

The award I most appreciated was a Peoples Choice. Showing cars is a good way to spend a lot of money for cheap trophies.

  16. Peoples choice can turn into which car has the most friends of the owner.
Not much sadder(in the car world) than watching car owners beg for votes

having spectators pic their favorite color seems odd.

my students “people choice” was the blown big block one.

I think I see two column mounts so I would think that it would be adjustable to get the steering wheel off the seat or the seat is up for some reason [mentioned] maybe adjustable, dunno, can't see the brake pedal either? Gas pedal check. PS I like it better than the winner but I think she won anyways!

Saw a video with the girl that the car was built for and she says she’s gonna drive the wheels off it. If that’s the case, and I believe it is, then Allan’s shop had to put the extra effort into designing the cockpit to fit this young lady. Not sure how tall she is, but getting her low enough for that windshield probably drove the steering set up (down and back) and possibly even the cabin stretch. Look forward to seeing more coverage of the roadster as it might answer some of these questions.
Anyone have a pic of her sitting in the car?

edit: just saw some pics of the young lady that show how tall she is (inseam has to be 32-34”) so cabin stretch and steering wheel setup/location now makes perfect sense to me. Roadster is built to drive. Give er young lady!

I’m 6’-6” and have a 34” inseam. Doubt she has a 34” inseam. I would like to see her seated in the car though because as you mentioned, that windshield is pretty low.

I am 6'-2" and 36" inseam so I am short upper half and relatively skinny and my legs would not like that steering wheel but windshield may be ok.

it would / might appear that
    IF AND WHEN
you look at the 'two' column drops
the first 'LONG' one has a slot in its sides each side.
the shorter one farther forwards might well be the 'fulcrum'
and it simply pivots about that point and locks at the upper first.
I am liking the stacked flat plate steering wheel more really
i thought at first that the whole wheel pivoted about the upper mount and locked.
looking at it though, it does appear that the brake pedal pad is to the left too much to forgo the olde aching hip

The one photo I saw shows just the steering shaft exiting the firewall, another photo shows a shaft stabilizer joint adjacent to the engine.
The photos are copywrited otherwise I would post them.
It would be neat to see it in operation.

This is the steering column I built for my roadster, no tilt-away feature of course.

These are the two photos I saw before. In the first you can see the wheel a ways above the seat. In the second you can see how the steering shaft is routing from the column through the floor.

When you own it you're free to put them on it.

I think it looks awesome with the setup it has.

There isn’t one of these cars that if YOU. owned or built that everyone of you wouldn’t change something.
My personal favorite is the black 32 full fendered with bumpers. As long as the hood stays down. I like black spark plug wires and a black cap. I would have a hard line from the fuel pump to the carburetor and different hose clamps. It’s biggest plus is the 3rd pedal.

The car is someone else's vision, so of course any of us would change things on it to suit what we think would look best.

You don't relate to the owner's vision of the car, and that's just fine. That doesn't make her wrong or you wrong. Either way I appreciate that she built her car to her vision.
