Love the Rod, She pick a great color for her too. Looks really good, except the big headlights, that we did not used when OHV V8s became rod power. That's the only thing I see off at all. Cool hotrod Plus,,!

99% of viewers? No, just a portion of the narrow-focused members here.

Her car wasn't built to emulate a certain era, so the headlights can be whatever her taste is. Personally I think they're perfect.

TOO Bad it will never see the road!

  4. Well, if she goes after the Goodguys hot rod of the year, it will have to get hammered on the road a few miles anyway.

First of all she's a young woman loving hot rods. Every young man's dream girl. She's proud of her ride. And how about the girl building the car with the men at Johnson's? So this hot rod just goes to show you that this car hobby we love knows no boundaries. It's great. I like the car and the whole story behind it. She's genuine, not fake like some of the shows that put eye candy on their shows and the women know absolutely nothing about cars. She's been in this hobby since she was born as it appears by the picture of her and her pedal car. Great future for her regardless whether she wins AMBR.

A young buck could sure pick up the hotties with a car like that. The hot chicks dig pink.

A fundamental issue with a site like the HAMB is that we focus on traditional hot rods. That means we're emulating the innovations done 50-60-70 years ago and then frozen in time. This site is not about innovations being done today. Now, we are all here because we like that era, but we are excluding the much larger subset of hot-rodding in general. Sometimes it's okay to look outside the box. My cars are mostly HAMB friendly and I don't show the parts that aren't, but at the end of the day, we each build what we like. I've never been a fan of clones, unless the original no longer exists. JMHO

Maybe the seat raises and lowers? Power seat? I'd take the black roadster pickup. But this dog loves trucks!

Alan Johnson is a very talented builder and does great work, But just as some of you have give your opinion in this thread I am going to give mine, I don't care much for the car. I think the paint job is hideous! Not just the pink, The black flames don't help either. I don't know if it is just too far out of the Box for my taste but I just don't see what some of you must see that says this car "checks all the boxes" Also the extended cockpit from the side profile makes the roadster look goofy in my Opinion. But it is not my car so it does not really matter what I think of it, As long as the owner is happy with it that is all that matters.

  17. Let’s keep this going till the next GNRS…

Your opinion is just as valuable as anyone elses opinion, and you explained your reasons for why you have that opinion. My opinion is that you did a good job stating your opinion because you explained why. Thats the kind of post that people can discuss if they disagree/have a different opinion. Unfortunately some people just want to throw personal jabs rather than explain their differing opinion.

  21. Honestly, I doubt the guys and gals back at the shop are bothered by negative comments.
I’ve seen more conversation and pics of the pink car than the one that won
    Well played.

Good guess…it’s a possibility of a wee bit more. When you go to any well known builder with interest in the AMBR or the Riddler….I would have 1M in the bank but not disclose to the builder/designer at the meeting but hint at it.

It's seems like not enough car for a million bucks! Give me a million bucks I'm sure I could buy a whole bunch of badass cars that could bejust as nice and build a badass garage to put them all in. Just sayin'

In my opinion these 2 pictures are pretty much of the same thing. Again just my own personal opinion. But I can remember when posting cars that were painted up like a Easter Egg was not really welcomed on this site.

What was the point of this???? The had to build an extended steering column.....WTF she's not 7 feet tall....did the pedals get re-positioned also??

And.... was this the "Paint it twice" frame job??? Paint it Yellow then..purple??

It's pretty boring to me, automatic trans, tubular frame, etc.

The only thing I like is the Crafty-B gas cap....if that is actually one of his.

  27. Paint twice?
    Could it be a primer?
    I’ve shot primer that color.
why not contact the builder or owner and ask about the cockpit and steering.
    Both are easily contacted.

her dad has commented on this thread.

If you watch the video a couple pages back, the builder explains that it was done because she's 6 feet tall and her dad is even taller and they want the car to be nice and comfy to drive.

The orange looks like a high-build primer or some kind of DTM sealer to me.

  29. Looks like a grey sealer being sprayed over a primer.

Controversial…”the dare to be different”, colors? Pretty much a poor choice in the 1980’s, too!
