Matt and I spent another Saturday at Seret Speed & Custom in Vallejo, CA on the Legion Special. Matt is ruling it on the grille. He has more build shots on his camera, but I couldn't wait to post this update!

The grille surround started out at a flat sheet and Matt cut each side by hand with a grinder as per his template, and the painstakingly perfected each to mirror the other. That was the easy part - next came bending them to fit the nose! Once matched up, Matt tacked them together and then hammer welded them into one surround. Then back onto the nose to drill the bolt and stud holes. The top and bottom will have stainless hardware while the side will have studs not visible from the exterior.

I worked on the dash inserts. They were designed on the computer then etched into br*** in my kitchen (don't tell my wife). Two of the three pieces came out fine. The third template didn't cooperate, so I'll have to do it again. I took the etched pieces to Seret Speed & Custom to be my Saturday project. First I rough-cut them and them fine-tuned them with files. Now they'll get painted, sanded and polished.

Lastly, we rolled the Legion Special outside again, this time with the full hood, intake and exhaust in place. Here's where the PHOTOSHOP request comes in. I'll be messing with it myself, but I wanted to see what you guys could do. We're thinking of keeping the hood and nose polished. Initial thoughts for paint are silver, burgundy or black. The number will be either 18 or 6. Legion Special should be on it somewhere, and I'd like to keep the horse image on there to pay tribute to the car's past (it can be small).

Let's see what you guys can do!

    BEAUTIFUL work!!
Sorry I can't help with the p/shop(unless you want it to look like a "monkey pounding on the keyboard" job)...
Anyway,if you use the number 6,put in on the side of the Cowl, that way you can keep the White Horse Inn logo.

    Ancient Chinese secret!

Actually I did a tech about a year ago on the process, but the photos are probably all gone.

It's done with an iron-on resist and printed circuit board etching solution. I'd be happy to help you with something if you need it.

  28. Nice hair cut but now most of will not know who you are from the top of your head anymore with that hair cut. How about redoing the post on the br*** etching. Oh and by the way the car look killer.
