OK, Seret was going to post this update later this week, but I have the time to do it right now, so here goes...

Matt will add to it so scroll down to his stuff too.

Being center-steer there's a little more challenge getting the pitman outside of the car. We decided to go with the same basic concept as a fan spacer.

I found this piece of s**** aluminum in Matt's shop and revved up the lathe...

...and ended up with this. I was pretty proud of it.

Then I ****ed it up trying to drill the thru-holes so my friends at Pleasanton Machine made me a new one. BILLET RULES!!!!

Body mounts were fabbed and the floor has also come along.

Some sort of African mahogany from jRipper. I placed the templates I made on an angle so that the grain would be angled after it was cut.

Matt rocked the header. It's not done yet, but DAMN! Can you spot the reason we had to redo half of it. **** happens when you get two guys working after hours.

    Lightening holes?

Matt's got the nose really close and has started on the hood top. I only got a few shots but that's a big piece to run through the english wheel.

    Untrimmed.

TECH: Matt has a cool technique for t******* the hood to fit.

First, place tape along the edge of the cowl just behind the dip for the lacing. [IMG]

Then set the hood in place and center it. Notice that it covers part of the tape on the cowl.

Next, run the same tape on the hood even with the tape on the cowl.

    Trace the tape edge.

    Then trim.

    ...and voila!

    My view!

Last night I started on the gas tank mounts. A couple of weeks ago I designed the shape of the supports and sent them off to Cadillacoffin to get laser cut. [IMG]

They came out great, but I decided to add a couple more holes for increased speed!

Next step was cutting some thin bar stock to wrap inside the supports to cradle the tank. The curve was roughed out.

I marked the centers of both ends and started by tacking one end, then bending and tacking as I went around.

The tacked up mount. I should get the second one done tonight and then mount them in the net couple of days.

  7. i hate you and your tape trick. wish I knew that last time I built a hood.

KIRK, That motor is gonna sound ****in' Fantastic on those Weber carbs, when I was young the sound of Webers meant a FAST car!
I think they're hard to beat for sound on an inline engine.

With how well this build is coming along,I hope you don't end up with a car that's "too nice" for you to keep:D

Are you going to keep the "White Horse Inn" logo?

**** no! This one is a driver all the way!

I wish we could keep the logo. I plan on painting it back on somewhere like a sponsor logo or something. Maybe just the horse in the square.

I don't know. Gary Schroeder (Schroeder steering) can't ID it either, but thinks it's possibly an early one-off. I may know more after he gives it a once-over.
