Now that is nice right there. Get a dropped axle for the front and it's perfect...

I have always liked the shape of the rear windows on those.

Your wheels and tires are great too. Nice ride.

I thinks it's a beautiful car. I honestly don't get why Ford is so much more desirable to so many people. You see a lot less Chevy's and Dodge/Plymouths on the road which IMO would make them more desirable if for no other reason than the fact that they are a lot more unique. Not to mention that they are just as nice looking...maybe not as good as a highboy, but with fenders EVRY bit as attractive.

It would look cool with a better stance, but as often as you see these babys in this condition (far too rarely), leaving it the way it is would be better than chopping and respraying it...again, in my humble opinion.

  16. So anyway what this old guy does is rent out his garage to guys who want to store their classic cars & then he turns around and sells them off on craigs list and......just kidding! We are wondering what kind of deal did you swing on this?

Put a split pipe on it and dual carbs. 5 speed and highway gears, keep the wide whites but put on a set of chrome reverses, and a mild rake. Done!

You should be ashamed of yourself!
('cause you have it and I don't!)

    Beautiful!
I have absolutely nothing against Fords, love 'em ... but I'd walk past a whole line of 'em to look at your Chevy.

It does need to come down a little all the way around,I put a 3 inch dropped axle on my 37 p/u and 3 inch blocks on the rear and got it sittting just right. I also removed some leaves in the front springs to get it down just a tad more in the front.

Find a HAMBer on the HAMB O'dex who can drop the factory one or find a replacement and have it dropped

Because the Fords were much more desirable than the GM or Mopar cars back then for a couple of reasons. They were more plentiful, cheaper, lighter, and already had V-8 engines. Never mind that the 6 cylinder Mopars would beat them like a rented mule, the inline 6's weren't****y. V-8's were.

Also, the Chevy got nicknamed "Stovebolts" because stovebolts and wood was what held them together. When the cars started getting old the wood shrunk and rotted, and the car started coming apart. Yeah, you could buy new wood and rebuild one,but it cost a fortune and the cheap Fords didn't need it.

Remember,we are talking about times in the early and mid-50's when hot rodding really took off,and you could go to used car lots and drive stuff like 34 Ford coupes home for 150 bucks. I had a chance to buy a running, driving, and rust free 36 Ford cabriolet from the original owner when I was 12 years old in 1959 for $50,and couldn't get my father to give me the money. The woman selling it was going into a home and had no relatives and nowhere to keep it,so it went to the junk yard. It even had license plates on it and she was driving it everyday before she got sick.

I had distant cousins GIVE me a 33 Chev 3-window coupe so good they drove it from Seattle to Norfolk. Excellent original paint, good upholstery, everything. My father sold it to the junkman. This was in 1960. He hated old cars.
