Tommy talked to one of Jerry's best friends, Dave Pace from Jefferson City, MO. They are still investigating the Cars and the accident information and have not yet made a final decision on what exactly happened. Tommy has been printing everything from the other Post, and is taking it with him to the Visitation to give to Jerrys Family. He will also ask Jerry's wife if there is a preference of where any Charity donations are sent. Some of you asked whether he had any children, he does, but they are all grown up and out of the house. Won't make it any easier on them, I'm sure, but at least there weren't young children left behind. As for the Cars. Dave will be taking them for the family. Tommy and Dave will take two trailers down when they release them from impound and haul them back to Daves house. I thought it would be pretty cool if Dave could ressurect Jerry's Henry J, but from what Tommy has heard, there isn't much left of it. The Willys Jerry was trailering was torn away not only from the Trailer, but from its own frame as well. That kind of gives you an idea of how hard he was hit....
Thanks for the update, Sean. Tow the cars to someone else's home... good idea... If it were me, I'd have a hard time looking at something a family member got killed in... even after it had been fixed. Sam.
Thanks for the info. I know his familay cant know how we feel about this but the whole ordeal hits really hard if I might say so. Also, Crazy Horse Memorial is just a few miles from my house. If there is anything I can do towards the Memorial Jerrys Family set up locally, I will. I remember my conversation about the Black hills with him at the HAMBdrags. If those of you that are close to the family can p*** this on, thanks.
I'm always at a loss to say anything that might help in a situation like this. It's all been a bit odd since Joplin is my home town and my uncle was hit (and run) and killed by a semi while walking along I-44 just a couple of weeks prior to this - he had a flat and was looking for help. Some of the family was notified in a pretty poor way also. I'd be glad to help any way I can. I just hate it when something has to go down like this.
Sean, I'm sure Jerry's family has lots of pics of him and his car, but if they or Tommy wants the hi-resolution version of that pic you posted of them coming off the line together at MOKAN, I've got it.
I asked Tommy if he wanted me to find that picture for him last night. He said he and Jerry both already had it from somewhere. I doubt they had the High Res version though, so go ahead and send it to me. seanpmc1@socket.net I bought a photo quality printer a while back, I'll just print a couple off on photo paper and take them to Tommy.
