Thought I'd post an update on my 49' Shoebox. C&C welcome!

Finished the chop. Only took 3 months but hey it was my first chop!

And this weekend's accomplishment - Glass! My neighbor has been in the glass biz for 20+ years and has been bringing home "scraps" from jobsites for me. Sunday he came over and we went to work. Was pretty cool to hand cut the windows right in my driveway where everything else has been done. Shade Tree Customs Inc.! :D

My buddy Drew doing what he does:

Didn't get any progress shots of the windshield pieces going in as there was too much cussing and pushing pulling going on between the 2 of us. But we got it.

Looks good, bro. It's really nice to have friends in the glass business!

Thanks man! Indeed it is! It's amazing as he only used 3 specialty tools and a 2 dollar glass cutter. He's a big hunter and will be in the woods every weekend for the next 5 weeks so I'm gonna try my hand at it for the front vent windows on my own. They're just triangles so hopefully it will go well.

Great work in a short period of time. I would like to bring my chopped top 50 Ford to visit for awhile if your neighbor still is your friend!! Not the 4door in the Avatar, that one hopefully will be a 2 door Carson top car. That would be another visit.:)

Let's do it! It's really not rocket science. Here's the rundown:

    1. Draw out the template onto poster paper following the pinch weld.
    2. Take 2 number 2 pencils and tape them together.
    3. Retrace the template you drew with the taped-together pencils adding an inner line.
    4. Place glass on top of template and rub on some 3 in one oil along your intended cut lines. Score one side following your new inner line.
    5. Break carefully. "Chase" the crack with pressure.
    6. Score other side following the score line you did on the other side.
    7. Repeat #5
    8. Pour denatured alcohol along the break line and light on fire. Careful.
    9. Bend and pull. The fire melts the inner laminate. Cut excess or stubborn laminate with a razor knife.
    10. Sand the edges.
    11. Install!
