Just a little update on my sedan...
Never worked on it over the winter, no garage heat + lack of ambition= no progress but in the last few weeks I've been doing a few things and since I haven't givin any update in about 10 months I figure its about time.

Got the motor mounted, used mounts from chassis engineering, they looked nice and weren't terribly expensive.

Got the tranny mounted, used the front frame part of the original frame and some cheap mount from napa. Had to rework my design to give enough drop for a good motor angle. Have kinda been thinking of maybe reworking it and using round tubing to match my rear crossmembers but probably won't.

Got a good start on some "lakesheaders", had some old rusted & cracked headers from an old blazer of mine. I cut the tubes off and used the flanges. The local autoparts store only had big tubing so I had to run with that. Can't remember the exact size but bolts will be tight. The inner diameter was what I wanted the outer diameter to be. Hopefully they will work. Have to buy some megaphones to finish off but will wait till I have to order some other stuff from the states to save on shipping since I can't find anything locally.

Obviously made some body mounts due to my other post.. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=103470

Bought a ford 9" from a guy at work, out of a 67 ford 1/2 ton, $60. Good gears 3.25:1 perfect for 70mph cruising at around 2500rpm. Bad news is that for comfort I had to extend it, no biggy, needed new axles anyway. Got the machine shop to take some 1/2", 3" tubing and lathe down 3" on each side to the inner diameter of the axle tube then I slide both sides in and welded it up. Now the pinion is alot closer to center which is nice, since I only extended one side.

I finally made some mounts and welded in my 4 link, after welding my diff in place. Had to make a top plate on top of the pumpkin for ease of making link brackets. I had it drawn out with info i read on the internet that suggests it should work well. Got it pretty close to the drawing.

Also finally drilled out my visor.

    Next..
Have to get my frontend stuff and my rear airbags.
Mostly concerned about getting the frame bracket welding all tacked together since I'll have to take it to work and use the big welder to finish it all off, then the rest I can do with my lil' hobart 140.
I really want to get it rolling this year but doubt its possible with the budget I'm on.

www.lakeheaders.com sells really decently priced lakes header kits that you weld together, which you'll be doing anyway...it's worth a minute or two to glance through the website...everything looks good, let us know how those hockey pucks work out for ya, I'm interested in how stiff they are...

yeah already seen that website. Had planned on buying them there but $200 vs probably $70. They were easy enough to make so far.
    Thanks for the replys

    Very cool Fry!
Love it when someone on a budget gives updates because theres always a neat trick or two to pick up.
Regarding the exhaust megaphones...someone here gave instructions on making your own! I wonder is it in the tech o matic?
    Can't remember who...
Might have been JETHRO, or 60's STYLE or was it JUNKYARDDOG? Arrrgggg...I'm SO bad with remembering names!

    Some crafty shagger anyway... :)

Might find it with a little searching.

Get exhaust tubing the size that you want the big end of the megaphone to be.

Cut a slit the whole length of the tube.

Using three or four worm drive hose clamps and tighten until you get the desired cone. Trace egde where outside of tube overlapes what is on the inside.

Cut on line and weld together. Almost instant megaphone.

The odds of my finding 4" exhaust tubing around my town would be rediculous plus I'd end up warping the shit out of it I'm sure like I do with all tin. lol
At $19 a piece from speedway I'll just wait till I need something else.
