Technical Update on the wagon

    Heavy duty points are good/bad...if the contacts are heavy duty, that's good, but in a street driven vehicle, like I'm sure your wife's wagon is, a heavy duty spring is bad, and promotes distributor cam lobe wear.

    Years ago, you could buy Echlin Gold points, with or without a heavy duty spring, not sure now.
    I'm not a mechanical engineer, but generally I'd be incline to periodically lube them as it may reduce lobe wear.

    I feeling very confident that the update,or step back to points was the right decision,I have racked 326 miles since the car is back up and running. HRP

    I always liked Standard Blue Streak points. In the stock car, AC Delco points and the car broke up at 6k RPMs. With The Blue Streaks, it was good to 6800 and more. They lasted a long time too.
