Hi All, For those of you keeping up with the Merc progress, I have an updated sneak peek for you that hasn't made it to the website yet. After some digi cam woes & the flu, progress has been delayed, but I got back out in the garage today, and finished off what I needed to as far as rebuilding the inner rockers. I moved them inboard to clear the frame about 1/2 inch on each side, (there was a mere 1/4 inch clearance on both frame rails between the inner rockers and the frame) below is the result of the modifications:
The Death-trap is lookin' better all the time, Dude! (Now....where would you like your CHRISTMAS TREES, Sir! )
I decided to weld the body of the Merc at the stock Lincoln chassis/floor height. I think it will come out at just the right stance for the stock suspension...bags are in the future anyways...in this shot you can see the relation of the Merc rocker/floor to the Lincoln floorpan.
Thanks Hack... No dead trees for my heap. Sorry. I read your post about the 2.8 V-6. I applaud your enthusiasm/willingness to do the unthinkable, but...man...a 2.8 V-6? I gotta see this one pan out! I'm tempted to donate my 460 to your cause just so you don't make it so!
Jay, you said "maybe later" in your PM, I figured you'd call if you could fit me in to your schedule...
460 = Front sump = wont work!! 2.8 + trans adapter X stubborn factor + beer to the second power = car runs! Simple math!!!
au contre mon ami, I believe I have a rear-sump 460 on my stand! (I may be wrong)...It's out of a '77 Lincoln T/C...
