Can I ask a silly question, I just had a friend, upholsterer, sew me up the new seat bottom for my 59 edsel. same seat as this one, from the looks of it.
he suggested 2" new foam. The seat bottom he made me was patterned from the original. It looks to me to be too short all over. Or should I have to flip the seat over and set on it to stretch it on.
I guess I dont really know how tight it should be.

The original upholstery had a tie strip made into it, and he just added that onto the vinyl, so I am sure its the same overall size.

I put a piece of vinyl over the stock springs, then the original burlap, then the 2" foam.

    thanks, Greg

Greg, two inches sounds about right. I did this one using five pieces of 1" thick polyester batting. Fully compressed its probably two inches. The bolster should just reach the edge of the frame and be maybe 1 1/2 to 2" from the attachment points. Yes it should be stretched on.

beachbum, I have it on now. I think I just needed some encouragement and to think about it for a while. after I got started it really wasnt that bad.

Looking at the picture of yours again really helped also.

    thanks, Greg
