History UPDATE - vintage drag race pics youv'e never seen

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by Verbal Kint, May 16, 2014.

  1. I rent space from a local hotrodder, after bugging him for a while he scanned a bunch of vintage local drag race pics for me. Here are some from the first page... sorry about the resolution

Remembering the past helps us appreciate the future and how far drag racing has come.

I always enjoy looking at old drag racing photo's

Not a drag strip, but I think the Flying Saucer Speedway was near Billings, a dirt circle track from the '50's. There were some others too, Butte had one. Sorry for straying OT.

Helena, maybe? Thanks for posting, Montana often gets lost in the shuffle of great drag racers/strips, but as these pictures show, drag racing was doing very well there.

In looking at GoogleMaps.Com, Dawson Community Airport looks to be the only current airport with a long enough runway for a 1/4 mile track. But, there is also the Terry Airport, that looks abandoned as there are NO planes tied down/hangered there currently. Someone should look into that! Butch/56sedandelivery.
