Absolutely not feeling it with dents and wrinkles left there.

The truck was too far gone to bring back to the trailer queen status for my pockets so this was the best option for me. I have one really nice memory that will always stay with me because of the truck being unfinished. It was at the Peach City Beach Cruise when a teenage boy with down syndrome came up to my truck with so much excitement about it. I told his mom he was more then welcome to sit in it, and so he did. He had a smile ear to ear which made my day. I am not sure that I would have let this happen with a fully finished truck.:)

It's your truck and you should do as you like, but in my opinion the fake patina shop truck thing is played out to the max. I don't even look at them at shows. I think if a guy is going to spend his time, money, and effort he should do the best he can and purposely leaving dents is not the best anyone can do.

I am a fan of cars, lots of different kinds of cars.

I like em best finished nicely, but it is not always an option. I did a nicely finished car and love it, though I still find imperfections and worry about leaving it parked alone. My son and I did his OT import car on a serious budget and only had about $500 in the monocoat gloss fleet paint that was applied. It looked great from 25 feet and he didn't worry about driving it to high school. Both extremes can work.

Faux paint is a topic here with strong opinions, but you are pleasing yourself so don't worry about it. I, for one, look forward to seeing what you come up with so make sure and post follow up pics. Again, it is your truck. Just don't forget you ASKED for others opinions!!

If getting it on the road to enjoy is shooting it in one color primer or doing something else to "finish" it as you like or are able, then go for it.

I appreciate the input good bad or otherwise......Its interesting to here other peoples opinons. I do have a really nice 1955 Cadillac that is the other end of the spectrum as well, so I dont always have to drive a rough ride if I choose not to!:D

That actually does make sense. I'll admit that I like some old trucks that are not finished to show quality.

There are some fine old trucks running around that are not perfect I'd love to own.

I think I'd have tried to get some of the dents ironed out even if they weren't perfect before the new paint.

A lot of the old trucks I've lusted after are either original or very old re-paints.

I think either way you are going to enjoy it, sorry for the negativity it was really misdirected, don't know what I was thinking :D

Intriqued. Waiting for more pix. I'm imagining the pinstriping will have "tour de force" handiwork....broken in places, and the blue paint will be sanded thru in a few spots to the rust colored paint. Should look interesting with the rust color and blue complementing each other. Right On!

Looking good. I painted my '33 without fixing all the dents. I want it on the road asap, don't want, nor need to spend countless hours fixing dents. I'm planning to drive the snot out it anyway, so dents WILL be put into it anyway....it's a truck after all. So you're not alone. lol

I confess to liking the patina look on old trucks even if its "fake". Let's see some finished pictures.

One of THE COOLEST trucks I've ever seen was a low mileage original 1956 Ford F100 cemetary work truck that had the original green paint (with surface rust in just the right places) with "East Side Cemetary" lettered on the side. Lowered with wide whites and an upgraded drivetrain, it just had "the look". Done the right way original paint jobs can be beautiful.
