well after the firestorm we started with the other thread,i thought you would want to see what we gotten done on my dad's roadster. for those of you who are waiting on the 34 roadster, hang on i'll be starting on it soon. -danny
I like it ... The only change I would do is to install a raised water pump from ZIPS ... so you can run a better, bigger mechanical fan. You WILL find that the ZZ430 is a little more difficult to cool than most 350 Chevrolets ( horsepower makes heat ) .
Very unusual but interesting (cool) color combo with that paint and the tarnish on the magnesium. Don't polish the wheels. Nice to see a real '32 Ford body instead of a repro. That tack strip notch makes all the difference. And too bad you guys don't have enough room to work in. Maybe if you cleaned up the shop you could turn out nicer products.
Despite a rather greenish cast ... I think you're gonna find the color is "Cloud Mist Grey" -- a `39 - `40 Ford color (or some derivative thereof)
I love,, I repeat, I love that car. But one plus vote for some bias plys, Cant wait to see it finished.
All I can see is RADIALS and a CRATE MOTOR.....EEEGADS!! I hope you're all proud of yourselves!! I love it. Variegated copper leaf on the beltline striped with cream or black would look pretty neat. But I'm sure you fellers have your own plan!
nope.it started out as "gull gray" then our painter added green to it.the stock color washed out too bad in the sun.we added green to get the color back that it had inside. gull gray is a 38-39 ford and merc. color. -danny
Kind of a 40s-meets-the-60's look... but it works. Refreshingly different. I thought ZZ430s had the serial # engraved on the valve covers? I don't see it there.
what do you mean no serial number?it's there. we had the motor built into a zz430 from a 385 fastburn and a hot cam kit.scroggins and dickey in lubbock tx. built it.they used to offer the valve covers until chevy found out.i think there are only2 pair in houston,tx. -danny
i'm not going down that road again. it was my dads, and he sold it to a long time customer of ours.we don't have the total plan yet.more than likely,it will be mild built flathead,39 box, juice brakes, and kelseys-hayes wires. we have worked on four 32 projects for him: tudor sedan 3-window b-400 cabriolet he has a 32 woodie in the works that i'll be building the chassis for.it will have a built banger with a miller head and intake, stock trans with 39 gears, and a polished v-8 quick change. THANK GOD FOR GOLD CHAINERS! -DANNY
Quote of the day, and oh soo true for many of us "shop owning folks".... made me chuckle NICE CAR DANNY... I always keep an eye on your posts, this one doesnt disappoint and although it doesntly strictly follow the HAMB bible it is truly a breath of fresh air
