For me I definitely want my car to look the era but I did upgrade things to make it more enjoyable and safer to drive. I definitely respect the guys that make everything period correct and find all the parts from the era. With that said you hear them talk about some hard to find part that cost them 3 pay checks etc. I think to myself why do that when you could have used a modern part and been driving your car months ago.
I myself look at it like this. When you look at my car I want it to look era correct, but not necessarily be era correct. I do have disc brakes going on it, but if you don't look behind my wheel you'd never know, same with he master cylinder. The motor I have is a 360 magnum that is from a 1998 dodge ram. I took a 273 accessory drive, which came out in 1964 so HAMB acceptable, and put it on the motor. Also using pre 65 styled finned valve covers and a Cadillac bat wing air filter. SO, despite being a modern drive train you'd never know unless you ran the numbers. I am building it as affordable as I can and trying to make it as reliable as I can. By disguising modern parts the odds of me finding a part when I am broke down half way across the country greatly improves.

As far a safety wheels or dual master cylinders even alternators go, 98% of the people who see your car aren't going to know the difference anyways. Do what works for you.

over and over and over again........each time these "spirited debates" create a higher and higher fall off the soapbox......I can't even remember what the OP opened with....and how did we get where ever the hell we are now.....time for a nap to recharge my surviving brain cell.

This is a traditional hot rod forum. Hot Rods are dangerous.
