Just a quick question for you upholstery guys. Who do you use for a material supplier? There is no shortage of suppliers out there, but would like some first hand experience here.

    Thanks in advance

If you're looking for OEM material, SMS in Oregon is the place to go. However, be prepared to wait as their lead times are very long.

Not looking for OEM, but at least OEM quality that will last. I haven't even decided whether I'm using cloth or vinyl yet! I have ordered a bunch of samples from Sailrite because they were fairly cheap for the samples, and I'm trying to nail down a color choice. The per yard prices vary greatly though depending on what you pick.

We use Albright's mainly, and J&J on some things. Thread comes from the thread exchange.

I know a guy in Iowa but no experience with products. I'm not an upholstery guy.
He was doing interior work for a classic car dealer then bought out a supply shop and is now selling material.

Have bought the leather for several cars from Crest Leather. Good quality, good selection, fair prices, fast service.

Thanks guys. Like I said earlier, there is certainly no shortage of suppliers, but these replies will help narrow it down a little!

@corncobcoupe I suggest finding a supplier close to you. Go see them. You can touch and feel what you are buying. When you buy something, there is no cost for shipping. You know the product you are buying is of good quality. They will answer your questions. My main supplier is almost 3 hours away.

It wasn’t me asking. It was another HAMB’r that started this post.

I brought you into the post with you being an upholstery professional for your input to maybe help the fella.

Unfortunately, the closest thing to a fabric supplier near me is Joanne Fabric. They do have some fabric that would work, but not much of a selection. Most of their stuff is for clothing or household upholstery.
