I was watching some videos on you tube about custom door panels. He was using the clips in pictures. These are zero offset clips. They go through the panel before upholstery is put on. How do you keep them in place while working with the vinyl? Gorilla tape maybe?
These are made for Ford cars and others I am sure. The door boards have a recess (slot) they locate in and pretty much stay put as you pop the panel in place. They can be put on after the upholstery goes on, they locate in the flip side of the door board.
I used similar clips which are a Ford part and put them through the appropriate size holes (17/64”) in my 1/8” ABS panels. With the panels snapped into place I marked the clips location and then using some 1/8” pop rivets I secured them so that they won’t move when I do the upholstery. It worked great. https://www.clipsandfasteners.com/Door-Trim-Panel-Fastener-Ford-p/a10780.htm
I used similar clips on my roadster. They worked ok. Has anyone used adhesive velcro for the same application? The adhesive is extremely powerful & should last forever. A disadvantage might be the thicknes of the Velcro. Just a thought. Greg
I’d never trust Velcro to hold something like upholstery panels. I don’t think that the adhesive would stay in place for the long term.
