Hey, any HAMBERS in Michigan do upholstery work? I need to get the driver's side front seat re-done in my Imperial, just the BACK and maybe have the butt re-stuffed a little. I already have the NOS material.. figured I would check here before I went to another shop, I would rather throw someone here the $$.. TinyE
Kimballs auto trim flint810-743-2954. real nice work, its on dort hwy g-3189 They did two nice 29s for a friend of mine one sold at b.j. for 70,000.00 The other one I painted won the eagle one perfection award at goodguys so their pretty good.
Was that John Olay's car? I saw it being built and wondered if he was happy with the what he got for it?
You could also try Schultz upholstery on Pasadena. In Flint. About the oldest shop around. They used to do a lot of Buick Motor Division custom and show work. Say Hi. to Debra for me!!
Roger's Auto Trim on your side of town. Mound maybe?? He's done alot of interiors for Starliners Grandpa, Bill Wetstone (sp?). My Dad's taking his '56 Olds there in April. I don't have the number sorry but they should be in the book.
Yes sir that's john I'm talking about, He sold the car to a guy here and he took it out there and sold it, the guy also took the revolver the car that won the ridler and the bid was so low he bid on the car himself and bought it back for 100,00.00 so he had to pay the 19% to b.j. and the other car took a crap on the way to the stage,I'd say the guy lost his ass. Schultz did an interior on another car I built for a guy, the interior was nice but the guy who did the car had a coat with steel buttons on it , he shut the door on one of those buttons and popped a chunk of paint out of the door and quater panel. They wanted to give him a couple hunderd bucks to fix it, well when the paint is sanded dead smooth you have to reclear the whole back of the car theres no blending a show car. pat
I have had good luck with Flint Auto Upholstery, Dort Hwy, Flint. Craig, the owner started out with Kimball's (suggested by lehr) and does a great job and is real reasonable. I have never dealt with Shultz's, but have heard that they are quite pricey. -Joe
