More and more customers have been asking about drag radials... so we found several models in Mickey Thompson tire that we sell as a redline, whitewall, blue line, and gold line. Here's a pic I took this morning.

These are now available... about $250 each depending on the size. Sizes 235/60R15 - 315/60R15.

Three week delivery from order date,

    Ron

Are the sizes just those 2, or everything in between those two sizes you have listed on here??

They may not be the most traditional in tread, but to me i dont see that being the issue if they actually hook up like a drag radial does and not just go up in smoke.

We also have BFG Drag radials in many sizes. The same tires you currently can purchase from your local tire store. If BFG makes it, we can make a whitewall out of it. ET slick's, you name it. Our process allows us to vulcanize most any modern day radial tire up to 20"

Don't take this the wrong way - I'm not getting on you at all and I'm glad you guys are figuring out ways to build new stuff... This product IS pretty damn cool for the right car I think.

BUT, Why don't any tire suppliers provide a cheater slick with the golden ratio of 7.5" wide and 29 to 30" tall? Something with the right details such as correct pie cut side walls(not some silly exaggeration), no tread or a simple cross hatch, and available with white or black walls...

There have to be 5 or 6 companies making a range of atleast 30 different sizes and details, but NOBODY really does the due diligence to put out a "golden" tire... Drives me crazy.

Just stick a fat one on a skinny/narrow wheel!

  8. Wouldn't this be a 235/75/15? I think that works out to about 29 tall, no?

  9. Im with ya on this one where are the "original" type tires in the "original" type sizes, I surely wish there was a bias street/slick in roughly 235/75/15 size, That would be perfect on my 57 chevy

Yep 235/75/15 is real close... closer than anything out there...

Problem is, nobody makes a tire of that size with the right details - ie: real cheater slick or with cross hatched tread, simple pie crust sidewall, etc...

Actually, the dirt track/cheaters I got from Hurst were pretty dead on. Ron found a new Firestone truck tire with larger lettering than most models. Now that I think about it, I'm not 100% sure if it was a radial or bias recap. Either way, if it were like any new radial with raised white letters, it could have been easily cut into a whitewall.

Yeah, Ron sent me the same tire right after you got yours... Remember way back then? Those were perfect. And they lasted me quite a while too... Unfortunately, I think Hurst is gone...

I got the last set of black walls thanks to a lot of guys that chipped in and bought me a set.

What? For real? He had everything going against him: nice guy, good prices, and a good product. I figured his circle track tire biz would have kept him busy and comfortable enough to keep the vintage tires going. That*****s.
How long did your Hursts last?

He got bought by Vintage Speed and then sold and then... gone....

My tires lasted till about 4 months ago... They never hooked up, but acted great on the street and looked PERFECT.

those Hurst slicks were spot on.

These might pass on a full fender, but no way on an open car.

Why can't somebody build one that I woudl feel safe running on a drag car? I don't want recaps throwing a cap at 125.

I HATE the tread pattern. That is almost as bad as the checkered flags.

I understand that nobody wants to tool up for such a small percentage of the population, but come on....I know there is a demand for a tire with the right look.

I like em. I'd run em on my car in a second. But, all you'd see of them on my car is half of that whitewall peeking out from behind the fender skirt. If they'll hook, then it's a winner.

From what I've heard those pie crust whitewalls slicks that are recapped don't hook for*****, which kinda defeats the purpose of using a slick in the first place. They do look good though. If we could get a pie crust whitewall slick that actually hooks, then it'd be a winner

I too 'am nervous about my Hurst re-cap slicks at speed, especially since they are near impossible to get in balance, and are out-of-round.

I love the looks of them, but a new radial 'piecrust' would be great.
