Here is the skinny folks, and it is not good news.

I just met with Chris (andys dad), the tumor that is causing the trouble has now caused yet another blow to the family. Since Andys update post his health has crashed, the tumor has now put pressure on the nerve endings and he can not even sit up now. So the 10hr dream flight to joplin is out of the question. Chris said that Andy was broken hearted to have to bail out, and feels he has let his hamber friends down. It was an emotional father who asked me to tell you what is happening to his son.

The Canadian health care has finally sent the ok for Andy to travel to Washington to see Dr. Shaker ( i know it is spelt wrong) for 3 emergecy operations which has very high risks for Andy, and after that he has to be flown to California for cyberknife treatments. There is lots of consern with this as Andy has had max radiation that an adult can have. So there are a lot of risks involved. But with out taking the chance the road for Andy is rough and uncertain at best. The surgury is to take place as early as the middle of next week. A very trying time for the Dunn family. Funny because Andys consern was his father being away from his business for a few months and the risk of losing it. He even told Chris that he didnt want the operation (and he knows what happens if he doesnt get it) because his brother would have to stay with relatives and he figured he would miss him. Funny the mind of a young boy. Everything before himself............. a bigger man than most of us forsure.

I would like you to keep them in you thoughts and appoligise for any inconvinence this may have cause you guys. Andy is truly heartbroken over this, but his life has to be first and foremost.

If his health permits i will see if he will post for you all.

Thanks so much for being friends to this wonderful boy.

    Regards
    Leon House

He's a good egg for sure. We've got video and lots of pictures to bring the drags to him. Nothing is more important than taking care of himself though. We'll keep him in thoughts and prayers for sure.

    Hey Leon,

First of all, give all of our best to Andy. We're all pulling for him.

Second, can we give that money that we've raised so far to Andy and his family to help offset any additional costs or fees involved with this immediate and upcoming health crisis? Joe, all you need to do is request a debit card from PayPal and they'll issue it to you. Then all you've got to do is overnite it to Andy and his family and it's at their disposal.

Hey, as far as I'm concerned - if the Drags are a wash for Andy, give him and his family the $$ to help with their comfort level now. We'll get the money and stuff together for the 2008 HAMB Drags.

    Anyone disagree with this idea?

My thoughts and prayers to Andy and his family. Can we get an address to send alittle something directly to Andy. I've got some event stickers that I think he might enjoy.

Either way, the plane ticket is his to deal with. If it means flying his brother, mom, dad, or Ryan to California to see him, I'm game.

It's amazing how much courage and fight Andy has. To be wanting his family put before treatments that may help him just shows how wonderful of a young man he is. It's also speaks volumes for the upbringing his parents have given him. It brought me to tears reading about this, having read how much he was looking forward to going to the HAMB drags. Kudo's to all the HAMBer's how have contributed to helping Andy and his family! And prayers to Andy and his family in this difficult time.

    Hang in there Andy.

I think wherever he gets placed, HAMBers should go to that hospital and give him a smoke show, or sneak him out for a ride! The best medication for this is a positive attitude... trust me on that.

He'll be in my thoughts and prayers, are they going to do something to honor our fellow hamber at the drags? I think it would really mean something to him if we could and got video.

  25. Our prayers are with you Andy. You appear to have a tough fight coming up, but you have folks the world over who are sending prayers and love your way.

When you get stateside there will be folks closeby that can, and most probably will, show you what a brotherhood the HAMB is.
If you concentrate on getting well, the rest will fall into place.

Chin up, young man! The Lord will provide.

Once i have the dates and addies to the hospitals i will post them here for his hamb'r friends.

When Joe contacted me about making Andy our first HAMB wish kid we discussed alot of options. If Andys health would make it happen and if it didnt happen. Once we got Ryans green lite for this and future Hamb wishes (other sick kids or members). It could be as simple as a gift for a sick member or family member. But we wanted to continue this every year, because we felt it was a feel good thing for the Hamb.

Here is what we discussed and i would love opinions on this.

If Andys health was poor we thought we would get a early 30's body for his flat head. We would relay it as far as we could and then pay for the rest of the shipping as we needed it. We thought this would give him the drive to fight this bastard tumor. You know, something to look forward to.

The construction community raised money to help family during last surgury and we will do it again, so the hamb money should be for our buddy Andys dream. And if the drags cant happen....... well his dream car is like pontiac slims car a 5 window ford. Maybe we could pull this off for our buddy? But the option is yours, the people who have reached out to Andy.

My choice would be for a project, i know a couple have been offered. Let us on the home front raise the cash for the family.

Thanks for being there for Andy, you have touched the life of a very kool and special young man.
