at least your having some sort of luck. hope you get hold of the tweaker kid and school him on right and wrong.
Posted on the Stolen Hot Rod alert Facebook page. Hope their conscience kicks in and you get it back in one piece.
Post it on hotrodhotline if you haven't already. Tons of people who are into that body style check that site and get the weekly emails from them.
sounds like the poor lil Cutl*** has been abused but hopefull for all that they get that scroungebag and put hi away or maybe have an excuse to ventilate him
yeah, sounds like she's gettin it good... I'm trying to figure out how he escaped a high speed chase with the anemic lil 260/auto... the car was far from quick.. get it wound up to abou 50-60 accelration was good but man... that 260 is a slug.. I just want it back, if she's beat up I can fix it.. the one thing I keep runnin' in my head to keep my mind off the potential damage is what I can do with it once it's back to bring it back to life.. it still hurts lookin' in the driveway and not seein' her though..
The best update ever... I got her back, she's beat up, but back. It was found in an apartment parking lot on 108th and Maple (Tudor Heights) here in Omaha. It had been sitting there since monday night. It's been in two hit and runs and a high speed chase.. so she's banged up a bit. The header panel needs to be replaced, the fenders can be straightened, the front bumper needs replaced, and there's s****es down the sides, it's also beat up around the wheel wells. They took the vinyl top off of it along with all the trim for the top (and clips), the back seat is gone. The stereo is gone (sub, amp, front and rear speakers, head unit, iPod, and ALL the stereo wiring).. plus, they took the door lock knobs and the valve stem caps?!?!?!? I have no idea the condition of the drivetrain, we couldn't touch it for evidence reasons.. But it's at the police impound in lock up getting printed. hopefully she's back home soon. I'm just glad she's back, and saveable. I'm the happiest person on the face of the earth right now. I'll add pictures as soon as I get to take them. Thanks for all the replys and for keeping your eyes peeled. Bobby
403? 425 with a '66 Tri Power. Th400, 9inch... I've been scared to put it in but now.. She's comin' back better than ever. And a fresh new coat of white. But I get to test my skills at body work first... just glad it's back.
Wow... you actually got it back - amazing! Good luck with getting it back in shape.... "better than ever"
I was expecting it to be torched, pushed in the river, or carter lake, or totalled.. After a few days of hearing about how it was bieng abused, and bieng totally unimpressed by the police I figured it was gone.. But now you couldn't knock me down with a frieght train..
hey y'all... for those interested here's what it looks like now..... http://www.facebook.com/album.php?id=1118150739&aid=2091282 It's rough, but it's all fixable... just takes time... I'm just glad it's back.
At least you got it back, hope you can get the thieves to pay up somehow. My brother had his OT car swiped a few years back. His neighbor (corrections officer) spotted it adandoned after a week and called the local police. They printed it on the spot and my brother had his car back the same day.. with a smoked up clutch and everything taken out of it. Bob
they never caught the thieves.... and the car sat in impound for 2 weeks waiting to get printed. which never happened... which I had to pay for. I'm a firm believer in karma though. All in all, I'm just glad to have it back... It was my first car, and I've drooled over it ever since the first time I saw it... killed me when I walked outside and it was gone.. but it's nothin' a little time and a lot of money can't fix.
Sometimes the laws are pretty friggen rediculous. My Uncle had a Caddy stolen (he left the keys in it when he went in to pay after getting gas). Several days later the cops get a call regarding a car (in a ****py part of town) with the door just hanging open and the interior light on. The cops arrive and find my Uncles Caddy with a p***ed out crackhead in the front seat, with his legs hanging out of the open door. The odd part is, they could not legally charge him with theft of vehicle because too much time had p***ed so they really can't be sure that he was the theif ... he got charged with possession of stolen property instead. If the cops can't prove who stole it in the first place and the theif wasn't in possession of it when the cops found it (was it abandoned?) it really isn't worth their time (in their opinion) to take this any further. Car got returned to owner ... case closed.
well if they would have printed the car like they were supposed to, plus the tools left in the car etc.. I'm pretty sure they could have got something... And the police that had jurisdiction over the car are far from a busy police force... but it happens to often, our shop has been broken into and our house twice.. all the same results..
Don't get me wrong. I am positive more could have been done to prosecute the guilty ... printing, interogation, torture (Ok, I made that last one up). Part of the issue might be that auto theft just isn't "that bad" in the eyes of the courts. Can you imagine busting some clown for auto theft knowing damn well that he will be back on the streets before you have finished the paperwork. I am just guessing that cops (being very general here) see the time spent on printing, interogating etc for something like auto theft just not worth it in the end. I also own 2 G-bodies ('86 Cutl***, '81 Regal) ... and I don't want either of them to go missing. Start adding all the anti-theft stuff you can, I did. Glad you got your car back by the way.
L.T., glad to hear the recovery has taken place, good luck with the repairs, puckin funks. ~sololobo~
I had an 85 Monte and in 97 it had 14k on it. I took it out of the garage to sweep and it was stolen. 1 and a half years later it was pulled over on Chgo's south side and the ****er had installed a sound system and rims on it.... Like it was his car!!! Sadly my insurance had payed out and it belonged to them.
I hear that Bob. Jeeze, why won't this door close? ....SLAM SLAM SLAM ...(heh heh heh). Sorry officer, I was just trying to put out the interior light so the battery wouldn't get run down.
Glad to hear you got it back! That looks like a North Omaha job if I've ever seen one. Makes me sick to see the damage. I had a 86 442 stolen many years ago and was never found. 80's GMs are easy targets. I hope the thieves end up on the wrong end of a bullet. They deserve it IMO.
