Use key lock to open door(shaved handles), advice?

Please find attached pictures or alternative ways to lock your car.

 

mine was also a S-10.

in the door the lock rod ran parallel and next to the handle rod. i made a new rod with ends which matched the key mechanism and the latch mechanism. replaced both rods with the new one and off came the handle. i then replaced the key trim ring with a black one and it blended right in as the truck was black.
