1952-59 Ford USTOMLINE DOWN! 215/223 tranny needed!!!

So I was driving my 52 customline on the freeway and it started feeling funny... i get underneath the car only to find this...



completely cracked the tail shaft housing on it...

if anyone knows where i can find another one or has one they're trying to get rid of PLEASE let me know!

i posted a thread in the wanted section of the cl***ifieds... thought i'd try my luck on here as well...

any help would be much appreciated!

Take it to a welder and get it welded up. Welding cast material is something a "GOOD" welder can do.

 

Makes me wonder what stresses were on that tail shaft housing to cause it to break... something to look at so it doesn't happen again. That same thing happened in a 52 Ford pickup I had, turned out to be in the rear trans mount broken and transfered the vibrations until something gave way.

 

Man, I hate it when that happens...!

 

Thats the only thing with driving our cars daily is trying to find something (parts) like this happen. wish I could do something to help. see if owens salvage yard has a tail shaft piece measure the rear tailshaft doesn't that piece unbolt from the main part of the ******?
