Hot Rods V Belt idler

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by firstinsteele, Nov 2, 2017.

  1. Has any one used an idler on the back of a V belt as lawn mowers use? I want a little more wrap on the water pump.

    Thanks

Ford and AMC used back idlers on several cars. We used one on an ot autocross car to reduce belt flop.

  3. After market ac units had then to help with belt whip. Most use a standard number auto bearing. They offered a back side and front side pulley.

  4. Thank you guys. Ford and AMC? Maybe the Buick won't rebel.

My flatty runs one, it was part of my blower install from HandH. I suppose you could adapt it easy enough to whatever you are working on.
