    Hi,
I am working with a Fordor-34 and i could use some help.
I have a v8-60 front axle that i wont to use, but i have some questions regarding the parts i need.

What front spring can i use (over the axle). Is it the only option to buy a custom made spring (Posies)?.

I like the look of the 34 spindles but i am wondering can there be some interfering problems with the pearch bolt ( i dont have spindles yet).

Some specs about the parts i am using.

    - unsplit wishbone
    - unmodified front crossmember
    - F 1 steering box
    - fenderless
    - hydraulic brakes

I hope someone can help me :).
    Regards
    Peter

    Peter,

First of all the stock 34' Wishbone wont fit the perch pin location on the 37 Axle.

Second, the 34 main leaf won't be long enough eye to eye.. You don't need the entire new spring, But you need at least a new main leaf, Measure the eye to eye dimension of the spring perches,... deduct 3" and you have your eye to eye dimension for your new main leaf.

Third, Arguably the bearing configuration on the 1937-1948 spindles handle load better,... But there should be no clearance issues with your 34' spindles.... However, If you put the Hyd. brakes on them, you should use the adapter ring that is ready available.

I think the other basics will be using some variety of '32-4 type perches and ordering or building a special spring...Posie's I know makes the spring-over in the width you need, wider than '34, narrower than stock '37. I think only option is to have a spring shop make a new main leaf for you.
Wishbones from 1937-41 (I think that will be 2 different overall lengths, same width) will have right width at axle but will only be right length if you are really lucky...look for people on here who have examples handy to measure. I am guessing length will be wrong but will be close enough to be on right general area of your X member, in which case you can get two suitable ball caps and use them to fit a new mount into your frame.

Thanks Harms way and Bruce for tho answers.

I think i going to put the spring shop to do me a new main leaf.
I now it would be better to use the spindels 37-up , but i dont like the look of the aftermarket bolted steering arms. So i am going to try find 32-34 spindles.

Wishbones what i have is 35-6, i did mill the wishbone end to fit the larger boss. Now i have to lenghten them a couple of inches (centimeter):).
