  1. I put this Kurtis midget together in the late 80's. I ran a 60 in it and ran at tracks all over Ca. with the WRA. The midget weighed under 1000 pounds. Geared for about 6500 rpm's at the end of the straight, it gave the Offies all they wanted, and was a ball to drive. As fun as it was, I would not run one in a Model A. You would be dissappointed.

Dean, were you at Saugus for the last USAC midget race of the year in December 1958?

Just before I got drafted in '71 I had a '50 MGTD with a V8 60 in it. Apparently that was the hot rod replacement for the original MG engine back in the day. I never had the original engine but the little 60 moved it along OK but I ended up swapping an engine and running gear from a MGA. Left the 60 in my Dad's garage and he paid someone to haul it to the dump when I was in basic.

The Emi Sul produced in Brazil took place when Chrysler purchased the Simca car line around 1959 from France. They moved the Simca production to Brazil and began production. In 1965 Chrysler had the engineering department work on an overhead valve V-8 engine designed using the V-8 sixty block layout. The Emi Sul head is the results of those efforts. The total production in Brazil of the Emi Sul was about 50,000 engines produced from 1965 to 1971.

Saw this one yesterday at a local car show. Ran smooth and sounded good. Owner said it was originally a spare engine for a midget when he got it IMG_3272.jpeg

  7. Saw this in a Hillman Husky that usually tows a Teardrop trailer around, gets along rather well. JW

The one I saw was in a British Champion built in Coventry. The engine change was done here a few years ago. Nice little car and engine looked like it was meant to be there from the start.

it’s amazing what’s out there for sale (at the same price) if you just keep your eyes open.

    Saw a V-8 60 with F-Heads in a museum years ago. Slick!

My stock Model A Pickup could whip an MG TC in 1958.
