  2. I agree with the others when it comes to the Roundup in Austin. Do your best to be there.

If you come through Memphis let me know and I will try to set up an interesting side trip for you.

If you're into old motorcycles, swing by the Barber motorcycle museum in Birmingham, Alabama. It's HUGE and worth the stop.

  5. These guys know what they are talking about!

  6. Andy, it's not a speed shop here----it's a body shop ;) Not really that impressive....B.A. just likes to poke fun at my 20-30 old junk cars, about half are HAMB-friendly:eek: I'm east of Nashville by about 50 miles.
I'd love to meet up with you guys and tear up Nashville, but like I said I'm headed to the Roundup--probably on the 26th, taking my time. Making a side trip to Flat Top Bob's salvage yard in Wellington TX(60something acres of cars)......again....you guys should try to make the Roundup---best cars and people and music you could ask for!!!!

  8. Do you like salzburg?
Yes I had a nice time there. I was down from the hotel to the bahnhof and a 72 Firebird drove by with a small hood scoop. I heard it coming before I saw it. I was surpised. Coffee and chocolate at Demels was my favourite memory. OH , and the Wurst followed by a Schwaben style Pretzel in the town square. Schmeckt gut!

  10. Atlanta is great and lots of good people there (the Sock Fuckers will show you a good time, generally involving hot rods, cold beer, naked grandmothers, fireworks and squirrelly antics... not necessarily in that order :D ).

Atlanta is an easy 16 hour drive from AUSTIN. If you're going to be that close to Austin at that time of year DO NOT MISS THE ROUNDUP. Seriously, it's the best show, in the best city... period. This year is the 10th anniversary too. I wish I was going.

Andy......................What are your plans, ( I know, you are formulating them...), for when you arrive in Atlanta, and how many in your "entourage"?
I believe your flight, will arrive in Atl. by 10:00, and was wondering if you were planning to "pack out" that day, from Atl., ( get your rental car and leave that day????)........................Let me know, maybe we can work something out........................

    Gute Fahrt!

From Atlanta you can go due west to Birmingham,AL. The Barber Motorcycle Museum is there.Largest in the world! They also have some cars there too. About 4-500 motorcycles on display.
From there north to Huntsville,AL where there are some good space museums. If you want to go to Chattanooga, there is a strech of interstate that pretty well connects the two. Or North on I-65 to Nashville,TN.From Chattannoga take I-24 to Nashville.
There is the Lane Museum there. Lots of micro cars and unusual cars. Also the Country Music Hall of Fame is nice.In Memphis Beale Street is cool. BBQ is great. It is pork based.Texas BBQ is beef based. It is all good. Graceland is interesting.

Dont rent at the airport. The airport car rental has extra taxes.
When you book a rental car, ask for the rates at a rental location away from the airport, and then take a taxi. That should save you about $15 a day.
