vaccum shift ?

    i just got my 1941 chevy sport c-dan running but the trans is crazy is therer any way to by p*** the vaccun shift,, i cant get it out of neutral ,, help plzx,, thanks the newby
     
  2. Pep Boys used to carry a "vacuum eliminator" kit, but it would be tough to find nowadays.

    My sister's 47 Chevy coupe had a vacuum shift that worked well.
    It speed shifted almost as fast as the cars with the vac eliminator kit and was a pleasure to drive.

    1948 was probably the last year for vacuum shift.
    Regardless, I'd try to get it working if you could.

    You might try pulling the linkage at the trans and see if the problem is internal or in the shifter proper.

    i tried that did everything i would do if it was a crossed geared 3speed m but it still wont move , , try again tomorrow,, think ill look up some sites for replace ment stuff thank for the hope:)
