Since my 58 Poncho is a daily driver I need wipers that work. Can anyone tell if there is an electric wiper motor that will swap in place of the old one.
I'm hoping the Hot Rod Gods of the HAMB can help me.

    Thanks, Todd........

Try Newport Engineering... They might have a kit.. They advertise a direct bolt-in installation for a whole slew of cars.

  3. I second that. I struggled with vacuum wipers for years before breaking down and buying a kit from them.$180 for a single speed setup and it comes with a new switch and wiring harness pre-cut to fit.Wonder of wonders it actually does fit! Took less than a half hour to install in my 55 and there was only one problem:The set screw for the knob was located at the 12 o'clock position right where the dash curves out making tightening the screw difficult but not impossible.
I called them after it was installed and informed them of the problem. They thanked me for the feedback and said they would correct the problem in future kits.
As an aside,I figured that for the amount of Rain-X and gl*** cleaner I used over the years,I could have bought TWO wiper kits.

I'm pretty sure there was a combination fuel/vacuum pump available that made for more dependable vacuum to run the wipers. They had ones for tri-5 chevys. You might have to pay some bucks for one but they were rebuildable and there are still kits around.
