Technical Vacuum Control for heater

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by van's rod shop, Dec 2, 2023.

  1. I need some suggestions - I want to use a vacuum controlled heater valve. I have the valve but I need a way to control it. I would prefer a control with a knob. I haven't found anything online. Any ideas?

55 and 56 Fords used a vacuum controlled heater coolant valve that had a cable operated control valve on the fresh air heater. This cable was connected to a left and right sliding lever on the heater control panel. Something you could modify to work? Just a thought.

The older cars, like mid 50's Fords, with vacuum controlled heater valves had a pretty complicated control mechanism. When I put the heater in my Model A, I used a cable controlled valve; pretty simple. Pull the cable out for heat, in for no heat. IMG_1535.JPG
