Vacuum wiper adjustment?

Is there an adjustment to the wiper arm ***embly, or the motor maybe, so the wipers don't travel to far out? On my 58 ford when driving and I turn on my wipers they extend past the point of the windshield where it wraps around the side of the car. When this happens, there isn't enough power (vacuum) to pull them back in. The wiper motor has been rebuilt, I am running a vacuum canister. When the car is at idle they work great. When driving down the road, the wind keeps them extended and they won't return to center. Hope u can understand my jibberish.

when they return to the bottom of the window, are they right up against the bottom. or do they stop 1" 2" from it? you may be able to pull the arms off and re-clock them to keep them from going out to far

 

THAT,s what I was thinking. There may be a problem with your diaphragm on your fuel pump or a vacuum leak as well. Jack

 

They are snug against the windshield trim, where they are supposed to be when down. I swapped in a 302, no vacuum port on fuel pump, that's why I am running a vacuum reserve tank. At idle, they work great...it seems like at highway speeds the wind may be pushing them past where they should stop maybe... Wiper motor was rebuilt, don't seem to have any leaks in the system.

sounds like there is slop in the linkage. does it use rubber bushings?
