and only a few year back rodders were unchanneling the survivors and calling them butchered before setting em back upon the framerails to make them correct again. Thankgod someone had the forsight to keep this one safe from those nasty purists. Oh i can't wait for the day i get my old time channeled coupe back in red oxide primer.hmmmm!!.
First off...thanks guys for all the positive words on the coupe! I have been speaking to various people about trying to find more pictures of it so it can be put back to how it was. Anyone out there got a nice original '34 Ford frame and model a rear crossmember for sale? Ill be at GNRS this Saturday at Keith Weesners booth.
Oh no the car won't be there...but I will be there. Im driving my 3 window but that also wont be in the show.
I don't mind the mismatched wheels at all, that car looks great, true early '60's look. Are the windsheild posts angled back just a bit?
Great story & a great pic. What about a pic of your 3 window as well. I'm just not sure about the purple overspray on the top of the window though
Dean , it needs 40 steel wheels , full hub caps , lincoln or similar , (ala custom ), the 34 frame & a flathead , my 2d , I dig the colour too.
Steve. I agree it needs to go back on a 34 frame just like it looked in 1956. Not sure on full hubcaps though but I also agree on 16s going back on. I was thinking pastel colour...something early - mid 50s. Keith Weesner is very kindly sketching some stuff for me soon. I am also anxiously waiting for some pics of the car back in the 50's so I can start gathering the right parts. Ill keep you posted and give you a call is and when it all goes ahead. Dean
Channeled, on the 34 rails looks good ...kinda racey. Not racey like filthy...ahhh wait.... ya its filthy. you win... put on some painted 16"...Good Year wide white walls... Use like three or four pastel colors of your choice...Mine(sky blue, ford green, that cool english white and a little gold)....
This is a sick little ride as well as your other one. I too would love to see this thing on the other ch***is with a full out Flattie in it. Well either way I can not wait to see which way you go with it and with a master like Weesner offering up some styling I am sure it will look phenomenal.
Good on you!!...count me as one loving this story/history/pictures/ and most of all the desire to keep it living on!!.... Got a 3wd with a similar story...lost to the ages, found and resurrecting
great find; glad it's being kept at its former glory. there isnt many that survive like this. great story
