Hi gang! I have a quart of DTM 2000 from about five years ago out in my shop, and I popped the top the other day and it is a little bit thicker than I remember it to be. What are the chances of say thinning that out a bit with some of the proper reducer and having any sort of success with it as a more or less permanent sealer/primer? Sure hate to think about throwing something that expensive away... Oh, anybody have the mixing ratios for that handy? When I used the bit I did on my hood, it drooled down the mixing instructions side of the can and I can't read them.
A quick google search said 4:1:1 for mixing as for if it will still work??? It is usually the hardeners that go bad so maybe with a new hardener...
That's exactly why I poke the holes in the lip and make sure its not on the instructions side. Sometimes I'll write the ratios on the lid in sharpie too, because I can't seem to keep track of tech sheets. Not sure if it's still usable, good luck.
Not trying to hijack thread, but is valspar dtm2000 still available. I have been trying to find it online with no luck. Wanting it for my 54 Chevy I have down to bare metal. Sorry for the question. Thanks
I know it's still available, but have you priced it? I have had this product on the roof of my '48 for almost ten years now and it's great! I will have to buy some more pretty soon, and have a local source, but if I can safely use what I have I would like to. By the way, my local supplier is "Old School Paints" on 35th ave in phoenix AZ. they might be able to ship it to you 63bigbird.
