If the 34 is 17% less than the 32, you are good to go for buying the 34.

I never thought of looking it up, I thank you now I know the range to settle for in difference which ever I purchase.

With a 32 Vicky and a 40 Deluxe Coupe, I shave been leaning toward the 34, but the darn 32 trips my trigger big time.

Hey, a simple solution is coming. Have you got a quarter? Flip it. If heads comes up, buy the '32. If tails, buy the '34. There, problem solved.

yep, and like most figures, - it won’t show the whole story. How many glass and brookeville ‘32 roadsters sold included in these figures. Yet not as many reproduced ‘34 cars in circulation.
Like I said in post 19 and @Squablow said in the second post for ‘ steel 3 windows’ the difference wouldn’t be much if anything at all, certainly not 17% to the guy who prefers a ‘34……

Not really. If both cars are equally built and the same price, you would in theory, be getting 17% less for your money if you bought the '34

When you buy the ‘34, maybe share the details of the ‘32 for the potential deuce buyers on here…….!

I'm with Twenty8 all other things being equal as far as build quality and the actual quality of the parts involved and the money being similar it is the one that flat rocks your socks that is the one you buy.

Other than that, it comes down to things like butt and leg room and how it should do out on the long roads. We all view hot rods a bit different when it comes to being comfortable to drive for a distance and for many "a Distance" has far different meanings. We have members who truly believe that going 70 miles from the house to a national caliber traditional car event is too far to drive.
We have others who don't bat an eye at driving 200 miles one way for an afternoon event and driving back or who might drive that in their hot rod just to go to a favorite food and beverage spot. If I already had a nice hot rod in the garage at home that this one was going in beside, I'd be wanting the one that I felt was best for the serious road trips.
The majority of events I go to are between 80 and 200 miles one way from the house and my son just bought a house 436 miles away that just happens to be a few miles from where you turn south off 84 to head down into Nevada to go to Wendover making the second day an easy 200 miles after I get to play with the new grandson. Driving comfort is a serious issue there as I don't want to have to be lifted out of the car when I get to my son's place.
Then again If Bubba factor is more important than driving comfort and you are looking for the one that draws a crowd when you pull into a rod trot, buy the one that has the best chance of doing that.

Both are nice...you could buy a Mopar ..just sayin....

  12. If it was me, I'd just buy 'em both and let the cars decide for me. First one that gives me trouble or is a bitch to drive would be pedaled down the road.

that’s exactly what I thought, although the OP seemed more concerned about value, hence my somewhat tongue in cheek reply above your reply…………
Now we are all waiting to see what he decides and hopeful of photos of both cars………

  14. Just FYI, I made up 17% out of thin air. I really have no idea.

And if you don't like how it comes out, go two out of three.

  20. I've owned ten 1932 Fords and have had the opportunity to buy several 1933/34 Fords but have never pulled the trigger.

It boils down to what you like. HRP

    Hello,

We have always like the 34 coupe over the 32 coupe. The 34 looks as if it is going somewhere and is doing a classy streamlined appearance getting there. The 32 coupe is the one year big chunk of a radiator/grille that just took away the smaller Model A grille and made the cars, look blobby. The grille took over the whole car and the size overpowered the hood and the rest of the car. IOHO

A great example of a cool So Cal style 1934 coupe, daily driver/drag racer…

So, it is difficult to say what costs and what percentage of one over the other. Each camp has their own supporters and they are a solid bunch. The value is for the buyer or seller. There is no set cost, other than most 32 Ford owners think they can get more, just because it is a 1932 Ford of sorts. In the market for years, that has been the case.

We saw it from our beginning times in 1958 to see which hot rod coupe was going to be our first build. 32's were way out there. The 34 coupe was reasonable and there were plenty. But, our choice was a Model A coupe (no 32 grille) to go against our friend's Olds powered 34 5 window coupe.

In the 60s and 70s, anything 32 was usually priced way out there and unless you had an abundance of cash or gold, most were out of reach of the normal hot rod guy. Sure, there are some really good looking 32 sedans out there, as well as coupes. But, that it the choice they have taken.

We grew up in that late 50s through the early 70s hot rod stage. We did look at a 34 sedan delivery that was a full-on project, but realized it was not for us. We also considered a 46 Ford woody, as there was a need for association of a beach style woody compared to a sedan or coupe. But, since we were a couple, anything that showed a beach style car would be our next choice, despite two door/4 door or coupe. The 32’s just did not have anything we wished to have that was stylish as what we chose, a 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery.

For us, it was not what we spent, but the 32 owners in partial builds and completed cars in various stages were in their own world. If we did not meet their demands, no sale. Plus, they priced themselves out of our range and there was nothing that compared to the security and room of a 40 Ford Sedan Delivery. Value, to us it was what fit our needs and therefore, valuable, not in the future, but right now at the present time.

We were not in it for future valuation. We live for the time used and we used it daily on short trips, photo shoots, traveling with my wife plus dog, and security for our stuff. An alternative between a 32 coupe and the 34 for us would not be a contest. The 34 would win hands down. Style, grew up knowing a 34 and riding in one as a pre-teen and teenager. So, our history would always point to the 34 over any 32.

As far as a current purchase of a hot rod in a semi finished stage or finished the way we would prefer, the choice would be a 1940 Ford two door or 4 door sedan. The next would be a 1934 sedan, two door or 4, all choices with SBC motors and A/C. The coupes would be too small and uncomfortable for our needs.

Our friend's 1934 Coupe version from our neighborhood.

If you buy the 32 your gonna wish you had bought the 34and if you buy the 34 your gonna wish you bought the 32. Being you have a 32 I would buy the 34. IMHO

Well it’s done, I’m now the owner of Shamus’s 34 Roadster. With a 32 Vicky and a 40 deluxe coupe I decided I wanted a 34 Roadster and made the deal. Now if I could just get it here.
