What are some good quality valves and springs to invest in? I know speedway has some but I've seen and heard, as I refer to as "the cool kids", using zephyr springs.... but I don't hear much about valves

Manley #11521 for intakes (and exhaust if have lots of coin to spend) and Isky 185G springs.

I have used the readily available and inexpensive 1.5 SBC valves with the Isky springs mentioned above and they worked fine. The Manley valves I’m sure are very nice but I’m also sure will be a bit more money.

  5. Way back when,,,everyone put some very strong springs on their flatty only to find car ran worse...
why you ask???? have you ever looked at a flatty camshaft??? They are not big and beefy like a V8 Chev..Problem found..too much spring pressure...skinny cam would just act like a torsion bar..timing would be different from front to rear...Think that over for a minute
