In my haste to get them little itty-bitty lites, I spaced out and forgot that LED lamps won't work for a chargin' warnin' light; mostly cuz them LED's gotta' dedicated ground leg.

Oh, yeah dude, the chargin' system'll work, but the damn warnin' lamp stays lit cuz' it's feedin back ground thru the little LED.

I don't understand what your saying here. You need a diode to prevent back feeding the exciter anyway so it might as well be a light emitting one. I used one on my truck and it works as intended. Light is off normally, but last year when my alternator took a dump, the LED lit.

  3. Mr Blue,

Ya' must be one a them slide rule totin' dudes, but yer' point is valid one, now that I thought on it some.

We're both aware that the chagrin' system warnin' lamp gets it's power from an ignition circuit of what I like ta' call terminal number 15, mostly cuz' I spent mosta' my time workin' on Euro-Trash 'fore I started workin' on bikes.

Did'ja know where all them little numbers come from on them relays we're always foolin' with? Ya know, 30, 15, 85, 86, 87A n' 87B? Back when the Germans was buildin' all them planes n' tanks n' such durin' WW2, they numbered all them wires n' BOSCH continued ta' use them numbers on relays; soon we was, too

But I'm digressin', again, cuz it's getting' late here in the east, an the dope's startin' ta' kick in real good like 'bout now.

Anywho, long as the trio diode in yer alternator is workin , you'll have power on both sides 'a the lamp' it won't light up, unless your diode bridge quits makin' power, in which case that parta' the circuit becomes a ground an' lights up the warnin' lamp, tellin' ya there's an issue..

So's I've really kinda' gone way round the barn to say, yeah, yer right, I coulda prolly reversed the polarity on my itty-bitty LED lite (cuz it do have a diode in it) and it would'a worked like it shoulda' and yours did/does.

Good onya' fer makin' me think so hard so late.

I'm gonna' lie down now an get me some rest.

  7. Ya'll prolly won't believe this but I just ate the best damn Mexican food I ever done had at the El Palicio restaurant on the corner of Rt66 an' 4th street in Kingman, AZ.

In the mornin', me n' the Missus will motor up the old Rt66 to Flagstaff, AZ in our spiffy Dodge Avenger that we rented from AVIS at the Las Vegas airport earlier ta'day when it was only 118F......

I got no idea what time it is now , but the sun's gone down and it's under a hunnert'.

Me and the Wife plan on stoppin' at each and every one of them silly-assed road side 'tractions 'long the way on Rt66.

I keep seein' all these big signs 'fer a Jerky place. All them billbords puts me in mind of that Soth of the Border Joint jest south'a me.

A buncha' Japanese teenage girls jest checked in'ta the hotel an' now are runnin' wild in the hallways.

By the by, HotRodDon, I really liked the cluster with all them Auto Meter gauges.

I gotta' take me some dope now and lie my ass down.

    Later.
