Hi all, I am a newbee here. In "ROD & KULTURE' mag, page 22 there is a pix of a very cool hub cap. It is a 1941 Veda Orr hub cap. Any one know where you can find more of them or the history of them. They are way cool. TIA Fred
Post up an intro in the right forum, Fred. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=18 And I believe that axle is running a set of Veda Orr wheels on his car, you might contact him. He will probably know.
If it's the aluminum caps for a Ford wire, but with some knockoff wings added, someone is selling repros on Ebay for about $180. I see them every now and then.
Squeak Bell of the Shifters and owner of the Kiwi Konnection runs them on his roadster. They're really neat. Alchemy is right..... Google Squeak and I'm sure something will pop up. Brandy
Squeak Bell does infact have an original set on his 29 Roadster. He told me that they are very rare and that there is only a few sets known to exsist. Someone may have made some copies but I know of nothing at this time. Sellers Speed Equipment sells a set on ebay sometimes that look similar in style. If ya find two sets of the Veda Orr ones let me know.
No no, see Veda Orr is my hero so if a second set should be found, I think it's only fair I get first dibs.
I put a windshield in Veda's Model A coupe many years ago when I worked at Harry's Gl*** Shop in Pasadena. I cut the Model A club of America decal down for a paper weight had it on my desk for years, My Grand daughter dropped it on the floor and cracked it about ten years ago. Its now a wall hanger in my shop. Veda was a very spe cial person
I've had them for a couple of years. The Ebay vendor claimed that they are copies of originals from the San Francisco bay area which eliminates Veda Orr. I guess? I'd sure like to see a close up of her hub cap.
That's kool-my landlord's named Veda. I found a set in the attic and gave 'em to her-I think she's using 'em for planters now
These are on Mark Morton's tub..... Not sure who had this on their car, but I think that he was a HAMBer from the North West.
Sodbuster: Yep. they be mine, i.e. the Edmunds ones, as well as the intake & etc. , but i do like the Orr caps. lakes modified
Sorry, I could not find a full shot of your car. But, I do have "tons" of pix from Bonneville on 4 different computers. Chris Nelson Kansas
Sodbuster: Sounds like you need to consolidate all of them on one computer, or easier said than done? You going to be at Bonneville this aug.? We will be back with the race bike and the rusty tow rig again this year.
Lakes, I have those exact same heads, except they say "Ascot racing". But same water neck and everything. Do you know who made them?
If you walk slowly over the g****vine to Bakersfield and keep your eyes open you might find a couple. Squeak had one come off on his way to the primer nationals and lost another on the trip home. They searched but never found them.
Since you guys started this maybe you can provide some info I've been looking for. I would like to find a history of the "Orr's, Veda and Karl, their racing history, speed shop etc. I tried the AHRA but to no avail and no responce. Has anybody recorded their story and if so where can a person get this? Thanx
Briz Bumpers is also getting ready to run some. They want $600 for a set of 4. They are plain like the ones shown above. I really want a set to run on my 32 but I just can't swallow the price tag at this point.
Those are some neat caps. On a slightly different note, though prompted by this thread, does anyone know if the wheel covers behind the cap in 3WLARRY's post are being remanufactured? Or if anyone knows of an original set for sale?
