hello. i am building a street rod. i am using a 37 ford front axle, with disc brakes. i am also using a vega steering box. the problem is, if i use the stock type long tie rod link,it will steer backwards. am i right ,or am i just imagining wrong. what do i do to solve this dilema. all help appreciated. thanks, ron.
The stock Vega had the arm going to the back cause it was a front steer job. You need to take the arm off and point it forward. I reverse bend the arms so instead of heading down from the box, they go up. I also reverse the ends so they are parallel again. This allows you to angle the box down and also mount it lower for engine/exhause clearance.Just clamp in in a vice and heat it red and bend. Don't screw up the splines. Clamp them in the jaws and heat a bit away from them. The vice will keep the end cool enough so the splines will survive.
