When the eBay "rebuilt" Vega box on my roadster went south at 2000 miles , I found a seller on eBay that had a genuine Borgeson 140 drop shipped to me . It was a new , genuine Borgeson 140 , in a factory package..and at a very decent price.. Worked perfectly right out of the box , major improvement in steering effort.. Will order another from same vendor for my current "A" project
There have been some problems with the Flaming River Vega box in the past. But the last one I bought, past year. Was made entirely in the USA. and the quality was very good indeed.
Just got in from a road trip and I'm getting caught up here. I noticed a Vega box on eBay listed by Butch's Rod Shop, Borgeson $301. I can spot a knock off easy, the casting looks heavier and the sector shaft cover looks kinda clunky too. Borgeson bought the machines and tooling from Saginaw so you know it's going to be right.
stock frontend? had a '47 Coupe small block/automatic, lowered with de-arched springs, put in a Vega box -but, steering still difficult - should have gone to 525
Ford started using cross steering in 1935. I've used a '41 Ford box with cross steering for years that works great. And you can be sure it wasn't made in China.
