I think it's safe to say you have most peoples support on that one! We should forget about this year and hope for a better year next year. I think it will be known far enough ahead of time if that can be pulled off or not... power to ya'!

  2. What's going on in the back of this little van? V8 power, maybe?

Besides the V8 sized cans in the foreground........:D

All I see is the huge notch, bags and compressor for his bag setup back under that van

  5. I didn't either at first! I found out it is a supercharged VW.[IMG]

Were there really only a handful of good cars, or did you guys just take pictures of all of the stupid shit? They called this the "Rockabilly ROD Reunion". I don't know what a "Rockabilly Rod" exactly is, but with the VW’s, Minitrucks and SHIT-LOADS of “I got a welder for Christmas cars”, they should change the name back to the "Ratrod Reunion". I almost went. After looking at the pics from the event, I’m glad I stayed home. I’ll save my trips to Vegas for Alex’s show.

Unfortunately most of them appear to have been Stick Buzz-Boxes from the swap-meet...

Look, for Vegas that was a cool show. Not to mention all the rain definitely kept ALOT of people and cars at home. You guys in Cal get spoiled from all the good shows to chose from. The only other thing we have here is Viva. I'm glad to have two events to attend now instead of one. Notheing compares to Viva but to say the show totally sucked is kind of shitty. How do you expect the show to grow if everyone keeps saying howshitty it was. The show has alot going for it. They advertised the shit out of it, it's at a great location with room to grow and it's in the sinner's paradise. What more could you ask for?
As for the quality of cars or kind of cars there? Yea there were some wacky rides and a couple of VWs, the Mini truck was in the vendor area, but really who gives a fuck. Variety is what makes going to shows interesting. Alot of you seem extremely close minded and fanatical about keeping all the shit out. What YOU consider shit. Maybe someone considers your bucket a piece of crap. Who the fuck are you to judge? What guidelines were there anyway? The only thing on the ads was pre 65 rods and customs. My bus is pre 65 and its definitely customized. I'm not new here. I know the whole thing with traditional rodding and imports, billet, and shinney stuff. I wouldn't venture to try and get the bus up on the top of the Gold Coast even though it would have a crowd around it all day. Shit, with the seccess of Viva, maybe it should be cancelled because it's become too popular. The whole thing kinds stinks. A bunch of whiney ass bitches that will never be happy. Do us a favor, don't come next year so we don't have to hear you bitch.

i still say it sucked! i went last year and it was decent. actually i was looking forward to it this year. this is just my opinion you dont have to read it if you dont like what i have to say about it. theres no need to throw a fit. i agree its hard to compare it to viva but last year was 10 times better...IMHO

how about, instead of whining about only having two shows a year, you should put some shows on yourself.don't blame cali because you only get two "rod" shows a year.it takes cali boys to go over there to put on shows for you, and when local (the strip) puts on a show, this is what happens. -jimmy-

  17. Well, Six of us flew out from Colorado and I can honestly say we had great fun. But I suppose you find what your looking for, and a good time was on our agenda. All but one are members of the Lonely Knights out of Colorado Springs. With $39 one way plane tickets it was the best odds I encountered in Vegas.

Yes there were some sorry examples on the lot, and obviously some builders whose mothers should have hit them in the head at birth and sold the fuckin' milk. A couple of vehicles had front suspensions that were so ridiculously unsafe that we just shook our heads in the basic WTF mode.

However, there were also several traditional Rods and Kustoms at the show that deserved a nod of approval, including the Merc the was awarded "best Kustom" at Viva earlier this year. Also, some youngsters who are not "quite there yet" were there and looking around for some guidance, so hats off to them.

The Shifters Viva show is great and what I most look forward to every year, don't expect that to change. Have been to all but the first and just plan to keep going as long as possible. But the idea of an opportunity to spend another long weekend in Vegas with Sleds and Rods seems like a good idea to this guy.

It may require a little nurturing from Rod & kustom guys to point it in an agreeable direction to us. Directly contacting the event website and telling them likes and dislikes in an adult manner may go along way. It will certainly serve a better purpose than pitching a hissy fit about it elsewhere (like here).

That being said, my personal plan is to support the show for a year or two and be vocal in hopes of it coming around. If it doesn't, we took a shot. If it does, we all have one more opportunity/reason for a road trip.

Next year stop by and say hi to the Lonely Knights.

    Johnnie.

    exactly.
personally, i'm going to do something about it for next year. if any of you guys (including you boxrod) have suggestions, please pm me. it is my goal to be on the "board" for next year's show. instead of whining, let's hear what you guys would like to see next time around. and keep in mind, i'm a sinner in a town of sin, and nothing is sacred to me.

    so let's hear it!

Thanks for sharing the pics - I'm not much for VWs myself, but that bus is pretty sweet, can't wait to see it finished. For every decent car there, there seemed to be some 10 pretty "ratty" lookin ones there. I guess I'll never understand how purposely making your car look like shit somehow makes it cool. Maybe it's just me...

  28. i dont think its the same truck your thinkin of from paso ..
the one you are t hinking about belongs to starlite rod and kustom .. its there shop truck ..
