The ideas are there already: Drags, Jalopy runs, swap meet. Those are some great ideas. I would suggest concentrating on those. On the same note, I think the event would do well to loose the fluff… then some of the other things that suck about it would take care of themselves. I would also suggest to have people at the gate with the balls to tell someone to park their VW in the parking lot. There is plenty of room in that BIG parking lot for the 4x4‘s and shit-boxes. The people who want to look at that shit can wander the parking lot. However, I bet it’s way too late in the game for that because the event has already had “we’ll allow anything” hung on it. …that’s what I’d do. …hey you asked.

all very good ideas, and it may just be too late for that show to change due to it's reputation.

i have an idea to take care of that...

That was what I had created with John at the track, and we had a much better vision....if someone can get "through" to the guy that runs the strip better than I, then great..... but he is tied pretty tight with OSR, so I think that crowd will keep comin back

Shut it down for a year or two, fix it, get the plan/process NAILED and open it back up with a purpose...

But I think this post might have run it's course.... NO-ONE wants to see those pics again...

I was one of those Lonely Knights guys who flew out there for the weekend with Johnnie. It was kind of a last minute decision for me to join the others on the trip but now I am glad I went. I can tell you from the viewpoint of most of the guys in our club we just have a good time no matter what show we go to. We flew out this year to check it out and we all decided that the show has potential and would be worth driving out for next year.

Prior to heading out to the event none of us knew anything more about it than what was on the website, which wasn't a whole lot. After seeing the whole thing I can say that it could be done better. As for the cars, well that is up to the people who run the show. I guess if only a hundred cars show up you got to take a few in that you might not want to. Me, I normally weed through the crap I dont like and check out what I do like. Easy enough. The entertainment at the show was good. I especially liked the Southerners even though they got a crappy deal having to stop after every couple of songs for the pinup contest. Lee Rocker put on a good show as well. The after party was okay but it is tough for me to watch the same bands again. It is obvious that they are trying to use the VLV formula with this show and I guess time will tell how it turns out. I will be posting pictures from the event on our club website www.lonelyknightskustoms.com

I won't be attending VLV next year. My wife will be giving birth to our first child the week before the event.

It had great potential, the idea was brought to me by John (PR manager) of the track and he and I concepted it together.....then you have the guy that RUNS the track get involved, and well....the rest is history.

Last year we had well over 350 cars and 2500 spectators......Drags and all.... I had given the track the idea to open their dirt circle track up for jalopy runs, not sure if that went down at all or not this year.

I think people faded since we walked out because of the same fears I had.....the quality of the show itself.

  10. Herbie just got the pics up on our website, worth checking out I think. I'm the idiot in the "Get Some Lipstick On Your Dipstick" shirt. Can't believe all those young ladies tolerate us middle-aged juvenile delinquents.

THAT'S WHAT I SAID! But she aint buyin it. We've been to all but a couple of em so we can miss one. We will definately be back in 08 though! We figure by that time we will NEED the vacation. Besides, we need to show the Olds at least once at Viva.

Johnnie - You need to call me and tell me Yea or Nay on going to the Blasters show on Dec. 10th. Tix are on sale now.

i'm not so much going to turn this around as i'm going to bypass it altogether.

not that i'm challenging anyone else's show, i'm just attempting to give the people what they (and i) want.

this town can definitely support three shows a year, right?
